According to the following, there are currently 48 underclassmen who have declared or are expected to declare:http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... eContainer
In other words, that's fully 75% of the picks in the draft, before you get to seniors or foreign players. I wish I'd kept a tally of how many pieces I've seen touting so-and-so as a "projected first-round pick". I'd just about guarantee that the number is somewhere in the 40s, meaning that there will be something on the order of 15-20 disappointed youngsters on draft night.
This is all apropos of not very much with regard to Kyle, but I guess my overall point is that the draft is getting pretty darned crowded.

For a 'down' year in college basketball it's a pretty loaded draft.wilson wrote:According to the following, there are currently 48 underclassmen who have declared or are expected to declare:http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... eContainer

Singler takes first steps toward key decision

The 6-foot-8, 230-pound standout took an important step toward formulating his decision on Tuesday when he gathered with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistant coaches Steve Wojciechowski and Chris Collins in Coach K's office for a conference call with his parents, Ed and Kris Singler, in Medford.
That meeting served as an opportunity to get everything out on the table, from the feedback the coaches had gleaned from NBA sources on Kyle Singler's draft prospects to reasons why returning to Duke would be beneficial.
"It was a great conversation," said Ed Singler. "They did their homework and Coach K and his staff were well-prepared for the meeting. We certainly heard things from a different perspective and learned some things. It was a very frank and honest discussion, which was very much appreciated."

Gordon Hayward will be testing the waters without an agent:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... ;headlines
On one hand, general consensus in Indy seemed to be that Hayward was the best pro prospect, and he seems as if he'll play essentially the same kind of game as Kyle in the NBA. On the other, he can decide to return to school, an option of which Kyle has said he will not avail himself. So make of this what you will.
Personally, I think this has to be a positive sign, albeit perhaps faintly so.

I got a feeling we'll know something by the end of today, either what his decision is or when he'll announce. If he decides to go, I'm thinking he might announce a news conference, if he stays it wouldn't surprise me if he just says so.

According to the first rumor posted on the DBR board, one "Foxsports reporter" says Kyle is staying! But wait until we hear something official before anyone gets too excited about this report.

I have a hard time believing that Goodman would put the story up without confidence. Of course this is after we watched every sports writer on the planet pack David Cutcliffe's bags for him. I think Goodman knows though, and that Kyle is staying. I'll save my woohoo's until we hear it from Kyle.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:According to the first rumor posted on the DBR board, one "Foxsports reporter" says Kyle is staying! BLESS HIS HEART!!!!! I feel SOOOOOOOO WARM AND FUZZY! I just wonder what Nolan is feeling. How great to have Kyle stick with him for their last year!
I really thought he'd save the announcement for the banquet. It's gonna be a really nice night.
Love, Ima

Re: Is Kyle leaving?
This is just marvelous news. I hope Kyle has made the right decision for himself and his family. My bet is that he has after 2 weeks of discussions with his family and the MBB coaching staff. What a great relief and what a season we have to anticipate in 2010-11. I am pinching myself and, if EJ were here, I'd pinch him, too. Heck, I'd pinch anyone if they were here right now cuz Mrs. DD will get tired of it real quickly.
