Sofuckingdelicious, dude.
However, I just checked, and alas, Mt. Olive has discontinued their chow chow (sweet and hot varieties).

Make a stop at your nearest Cracker Barrel and purchase a jar of the house chow chow.

It's a bit similar to a pickled relish though the colors and ingredients may be very different than relish. It's not a piccalilli either.

That would be TWO care packages, right ol' buddy, ol' pal? :ymhug: :-*

I prefer dill and the sour variety of pickles more than the sweet variety. My granny used to make bread and butter pickles and I loved them dearly.
Glad to see you giving props to sour pickles. That's very righteous of you.

POTD to the photo of pickles in ramekins. That was AMAZING!!

wilson: As for Goldberg's, they're decent and good, but they don't knock my socks off. They are better than most pickles you can buy in a store. However, if they're neither in a barrel nor home-pickled, I can't rave about them. IMPORTANT NOTE: Goldberg's locations vary wildly. Steven Bunchofnumbers swears by the Roswell Rd original place, but I find it no better than East Cobb's Bagelicious. The West Paces Ferry Goldberg's is over-yuppied insanity. And the Cobb branch just plain ol' doesn't cut the brown mustard. And NO ONE in Atlanta rivals the barrel-pickles of Harold's of New Jersey.

Arkie: Kohn's of Creve Coeur used to have barrel pickles. DEFINITELY worth a stop.

IMPORTANT POINT: My opinions of pickles are now undergoing MASSIVE revision, as home pickling is fairly easy to do. You get to flavor them how you want.

My grandma made a pretty mean bread and butter pickle, too. The Mt Olive variety are the closest to hers that I've come across.

Pickled eggs are delicious. My aunt and uncle keep chickens in their backyard, so they are open to new/different/weird ways of preparing eggs, one of which is to pickle them. Me likey.
Pigs' feet, I have not tried, nor will I.

Are they like biodegradable golf balls? Just curious! :ymblushing: My dad loves pickled pig's feet, but I haven't enjoyed that experience yet!

I have eaten piclkled green beans. There are recipes for "Dilly Beans". I make pickled okro. I put hot peppers and lots of garlic in them. I took some to Brunchgate 2 years ago. I don't think they went over. Only a few were eaten. I love them.

Hopefully, we will have a good garden this year and will grow lots of okro. I will pickle them again and will bring you a jar.

I love fried okra and rather strongly dislike it in all other forms...too slimy/snotty.
