Have come to the conclusion the issues come from something in the iPad - all's well on the desktop! Anyone with an iPad having issues?

Good morning.

Big lightning strike right behind the house last night about 10:15. Scared the out of us. My http://eglew.continentalpowerworx.com/ protected everything except the digital thermostat on the HVAC system, which puzzles me since that only has dc power on it, coming back from the outside unit. I'm heading to Lowe's to buy a new one and hope that that restores AC function to the house, otherwise the system was damaged outside too, which is a much bigger problem...

I've replaced the thermostat with a new programmable one I bought at Wal-Mart. Display on, check. Wired correctly? It's only 5 color-coded wires, I certainly think so. When I turned the breaker back on, I could get the blower fan to run in the "fan on" mode, but when placed in "Cool" the outside compressor fan would not, even though I think the compressor and blower were running in the auto mode. I've placed a call to my AC guy and left him a voice mail and text message. I'll give him 30 minutes and then call again. I know, it's Sunday. But it's hot. So much for playing golf today.

I have AC! He replaced a capacitor that had blown. He didn't have the right one on his truck, but he used 2 that added up to the right value to see if they would get it working, and it did! He'll be back later tonight with the right one (35 micro-farads, he used a 25 and a 10). Now to get the house down to 73 degrees from the 80 it had gotten up to. Good thing I had that radiant barrier insulation in the attic or it REALLY would have gotten hot in the house.
