Anyone actually parachuted?
Yes. Did a tandem jump once back in the Triangle.

Love that song. I regret not quoting a lyric earlier.

Would you do it again, or was once enough?

That's a good question. It was a definite adrenaline rush and if you had asked me back then, I likely would have done it again. Now, 15 odd years later, married with two small children, it's not in the cards. Maybe when I retire I can be like Bush 41 and go every year for my birthday.

Anyone ever piloted a plane?
When I was six, my mom’s friend let me sit in the copilot seat of his Cessna and handle the controls. When I was twenty-six, one of my friends let me do the same. No luck when I turned 46. :9f:

When I was six, I got to sit in the cockpit during a flight on Eastern Airlines. Kareem wasn't flying, and I wasn't asked about Turkish prisons.
When I was thirtysixish, I took one of those introductory flight lessons, and flew a Cessna from takeoff to landing. To do all the hours required would have been way pricey and time consuming but it was fun. A lot more fun than the Turkish prison.

I have my private pilot license. Both single and multi engine land. VFR only. Got it while an undergrad. Flew out of Whiskey 52, the official designation of the chapel hill airport :9f: . Back then renting a Cessna 150 was $14/hour wet (including fuel). The instructor was $7/hour. Multiply X 8 - 10 today. B-)
