Arkie, your community should be held liable for the theft of your tire. If the gate is broken, and anyone can drive in, then you do NOT have a gated community.

I hope you had a spare tire to put on your car.

I SAW that on your facebook entry!!! OMG! Guess you're gonna have to get one of those cars that sends out an alarm when somebody touches it.

The OP has a hot wire around the shoreline at our lake house which gives the geese a large charge when they try to walk up from the water. I suggest the same for your car!

Are you sure this wasn't a prank compliments of your "parking-place-poaching-neighbors", bless their hearts?!.

How about DWP's comment on liability, all you legal eagles out there?

Don't think this was the neighbors. There's an issue in these parts with people stealing wheels. Usually it happens with trucks rather than cars. The police officer that came was pretty unsympathetic. Didn't even attempt to get fingerprints, despite the fact that the thieves beat a hasty retreat and left their jack behind. Fortunately I have a donut spare in the trunk. Had to call a friend to buy lug nuts for me, though, since the lowlife took those, too.
