Being a weatherman has rarely had anything to do with the weather.EarlJam wrote:Why didn't the weathermen/women in the Southeast and East coast just take this summer off?
They could have all just gotten on the TV on June 1st, or May 15 for that matter, and said.
"And now your forecast for each day for the next three months: Partly Cloudy, hazy and hot, with temps in the mid-upper 90s and a heat index around 112. Slight chance of showers."
The sticker in the back windshield of my car is now melted.

Sasha would be shakin' here, as well. The sky is doing a fine lot of shakin'. Jerry Lee Lewis might still be able to do a whole lotta shakin' if he were around here tonight.lawgrad91 wrote:Big-time thunderstorm here. Sasha is shaking like a small canine leaf.
FYI, Capt, I don't live far from the car lot you go to in Walkertown.captmojo wrote:Sasha would be shakin' here, as well. The sky is doing a fine lot of shakin'. Rain is keeping me from grass mowing. We have no cars on the yard, so tomorrow off. I need to take avantage of the time. We've had enough rain for a time...and heat. How's about some cool and dry?
My signal is tiling and dropping out every few seconds.lawgrad91 wrote:Check out said big empty lot tomorrow morning, as you ride by. We used to hit golf balls across it, many moons ago. They would make it as far as Stokes county.![]()

Merlin, the intrepid hound, is NOT afraid of the storm. He's just close to Mommy to make sure SHE isn't afraid. Not quite sure how sitting on Mommy's foot is making sure she isn't afraid, but Merlin is nothing if not logical, so I assume he has some valid reason.
The satellite is out.
Our illustrious news folk reported that an average of 1000 lightning strikes per hour were going down last night.Devil in the Blue Dress wrote:Just a note about those storms last night..... several smaller storms joined together to produce a much bigger storm as the weather activity moved east, lots of lightening strikes, high winds reported in some places along with weather alerts for severe thunderstorms, flash flooding accompanied by power outages, especially in Guilford County (about 3K at one point). Northwest of WS, the power flicked off and on several times, but came back on. A very restless night.
