I used to listen to that song with a few good friends while in undergrad. Two of the guys were from Virgina, the third was from North Carolina. Then there was me, from Arizona. Nowhere else has ever felt anywhere near like home.

*Disclaimer: I am in no way implying that BD and Ozzie are themselves bandwagon fans, just that their respective teams' legions include many such fans.
Clarification noted, and thanks.

Now, to be obnoxious, the nice thing about being a Red Sox fan is that, they are, of course, front runners most of the time. Game on this weekend Ozzie, the Yanks only have to take 8 in a row to tie the series this year. :D
BD, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see just that happen!

Funny thing is that she grew up in Princeton, New Jersey and the DC area.

I would. :D

And wilson, I've only been a Sox fan since 1986, they've never really sucked in all that time, sure they haven't made the playoffs every year and I had to be fan for 18 years before they won it all, but it's been mostly good. And 2004 wouldn't have been quite so wonderful if I hadn't had to suffer some. And unlike Duke, a team without a hometown, Boston loves the Sox. I like living somewhere that I can root for the same team as pretty much everybody else.

I don't think the Braves have sucked much in that time span either. It's all good.

And to be fair to Ozzie, neither have the Yankees.

That's ok, Dorothy. Don't let on that Kansas is really a great place - it keeps the odd folks out. :D
Reminds me of a t-shirt I heard about during a visit to Bozeman, MT: "Montana sucks. Now go home and tell all your friends."

Y'all already knew I was a nerd, but I'm a nerd who can tell over half the world that she loves them in their native tongue. (Yes, I know it in Mandarin Chinese.)

I can only say it in 3 languages, but those 3 have been sufficient.

Apparently, my cat wasn't happy with the way I was sitting on the couch. He tried to push me out of the way.

It's definitely all good between us, BD. You're pushing a quarter century with the team, and that's pretty legit (it's longer, for example, than my Braves fanhood). It's the chick from suburban Atlanta in the pink red sox hat who doesn't know who Ted Williams or Carl Yastrzemski or even Roger Clemens is whose sox fanhood I loathe. In fact, I flatly reject the very notion of that kind of person's red sox fanhood.
But I still refuse to capitalize "red sox." ;)
