Setting aside our favorite team and venue (and not limited to baseball, although it seems more prevalent among baseball fans), what is the driver behind “I want to visit all the <insert sport here> stadiums?”

Asking in earnest...I generally have more interest in the teams I am watching / the competition itself and not the location.
For me, it goes back to when I was a kid. I was on the Marta in Atlanta heading back to the hotel with my dad after a Braves game. We met an older gentleman, had to have been at least 75, who was finishing up a season long tour of every MLB stadium (he only had Miami remaining). As a young teenager I thought that was the coolest thing. I don't want to wait until I'm retired though, I know that I'm not guaranteed tomorrow. I have never took a trip, other than to Atlanta, for a baseball game. If I happen to be in a city with an MLB team I always try to catch a game.

You are right though, it is a baseball thing. The gameday experience is so much different. I really enjoy the regional/ballpark specific concessions. in Seattle, for instance, they had fried grasshoppers :twitch:

I bet you've seen one at either Fenway or Wrigley. Next 2 on the list if not, hopefully safely in 2021 :-s
Those two are top on my list. I have a cousin in Boston now, so hopefully I can make that trip next summer.
Agree that Fenway and Wrigley should definitely be 1 and 2. After you've been to those, also be sure to check out Pittsburgh - really nice stadium right on the river. And since the Pirates usually stink, prices are very reasonable.
Oh yeah, I've always thought their ballpark looked cool.

I usually pick the cheapest seats when I go to a game I do not care about. 50% of the game I'm usually just trying to scout out $12 local beers :monacle:

Liking baseball is a topic where reasonable folks can disagree and remain friends.

:D
I used to enjoy baseball on TV. I’m an Orioles fan. X(

I LOVE baseball on the radio. My great-grandfather (who lost his sight in his later years) and I listened to games every night for years.
My bucket list includes watching a game at every mlb park. I've been to 8-9, and Camden may be my favorite.
Let me know when you are heading to The K.

For the “experience” I guess. Like going to a game in Cameron, especially the Duke-carolina game.
I’ve been to baseball games at:
Old Yankee Stadium
New Yankee Stadium
Ft. Lauderdale Yankee Stadium
Shea Stadium
Fenway Park (July 20, 1969!)
Camden Yards
Fulton County Stadium
DBAP
Truist Stadium (fka BB&T Stadium) Greensboro Grass Hoppers
Five County Stadium, Zebulon, carolina Mudcats

My list (disclaimer-I can't even name all the MLB teams):

Fulton County Stadium (old, old Braves stadium)
Ted Turner Field (old Braves stadium)
Camden Yards
Fenway
Wrigley
KC Royals
Metrodome
Yankee Stadium
Shea
Oakland
Connie Mack (old, old Phillies ballpark)
Veterans Stadium (old Phillies stadium)
Candlestick
Seattle
Cards/Busch
Toronto
DC

I've also seen the Diamondbacks' and Rockies' ballparks but not attended a game at either.

I really, really liked baseball (not so much now) and, whenever we'd visit a town, we'd try to see a game

I’m late for the baseball conversation, but for the locals, the park in High Point is really nice and the baseball was good in 2019.

Add the Phillies new ball park to the list. Went there a couple of years ago when I was there a couple of years ago. Nice place to watch a game! :9f:

There’s a lot wrong with this ranking of Bond films, and a lot they got right.

https://www.saturdayeveningpost.com/202 ... ms-ranked/

View to a Kill and Octopussy criminally underrated.
Licence to Kill rated highly enough to validate that Timothy Dalton was Daniel Craig before the world was ready for Daniel Craig’s Bond.

So, I took 9 different rankings from the 'ol interwebs and averaged them and re-ordered them, this is what I ended up with...
  • Goldfinger 2.625
    Casino Royale 3.375
    From Russia with Love 4
    Skyfall 5.125
    Dr. No 6.375
On Her Majesty's Secret Service 7.5
    Thunderball 8.375
The Spy Who Loved Me 8.625
    You Only Live Twice 10.125
    GoldenEye 10.75
    Live and Let Die 12.875
    The Living Daylights 13.75
    Spectre 14.5
    Licence to Kill 15.375
    For Your Eyes Only 15.5
    Diamonds Are Forever 16
    Octopussy 16
    Never Say Never Again 16.2
    Tomorrow Never Dies 16.75
    Quantum of Solace 17.25
    Moonraker 17.875
The World Is Not Enough 18.5
The Man with the Golden Gun 20.375
    A View to a Kill 21.625
    Die Another Day 22.375
I get bored sometimes during quarantine...

Fascinating.

I’d put all the Brosnan Bond movies at the bottom for starters, and Quantum of Solace in the mix at the bottom
.

The low ranking of View to a Kill continues to surprise me.

Yeah, A View to a Kill gets no love from anyone. Moore was way past his prime, kinda phoned that one in, IMHO. If it weren't for Christopher Walken and Grace Jones it would be even lower! :D I actually like the Brosnan flix more than most of these folks. GoldenEye is one of my all-time faves and I actually enjoy Tomorrow Never Dies. I think Jonathon Pryce made a great villain and I've always had a spot for Teri Hatcher! (Just wow.)

Anyone bought any lighting for zoom / video conferences from home?

Looking at some Neewer products.

The double light wand setup seems like a reasonable price.

You don’t do all of your zooms from a beautiful porch? You’re batting 1.000% with that IMO.

Backyard renovation in planning phase, so, soon.

I have a nice nook indoors with a great view.
Time change means natural foreground lighting disappears early afternoon.

Some of these “amateur” setups seems quite pricey, trying to find a sweet spot on price.
