Re: Blair Holliday in critical condition
DitBD posted this in the thread in the football forum. I also posted it on our Facebook page yesterday.
A fund raiser has been set up to assist Blair's family with their mounting hotel expenses and other costs of long term stay to be near while Blair is in the hospital. Here's a link with information about how to contribute to this fund. His fellow football players helped get the ball rolling.

Re: Blair Holliday in critical condition
Stopped by the Iron Duke office today, but didn't really learn anything knew about Blair's condition, other than his dad has returned to California because he had to go back to work. Guess that's good news because Blair is stable enough for him to leave and go home. So, as reported in the news media, Blair is in stable but critical condition. He's opened his eyes and has responded to stimulus, but don't take this to mean that he's conscious or talking, because he's probably not.

Ozzie, thanks for the update. I was hoping to hear something more promising. Continued Prayers and thoughts for Blair and his family, and his Duke Teammates and Coaches.

Re: Blair Holliday in critical condition
Per this article in the Durham Herald Sun, http://www.heraldsun.com/view/full_stor ... KE-PRAYERS?, Blair has a severe brain injury. Having worked with patients with severe brain injuries in a past life, he has a really long road to go. Prayers and vibes for the Holliday family.

Please remember that you can post your prayers and well wishes on the web page for the fund raiser. http://www.giveforward.com/theblairholl ... action=hug
The fund raiser has reached 39% of the goal as of today. I can empathize with the family regarding the time and expenses involved. I'm fortunate to live near the hospital where my mom is being treated this month......her treatment began July 4, the date of Blair's accident. The cost of motel/hotel rooms and meals would be pretty high by now.

Re: Blair Holliday in critical condition
Excellent news!! Not only is Blair alert, but he is talking.
http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/08/07/ ... talks.html“We had him on speakerphone, and it was just great to hear his voice – a sound that absolutely filled the room with exuberance,” Cutcliffe said in a statement released by the school. “We talked about the rehabilitation process and how important it is, and when I asked him if he understood how much we loved him, he responded with a confident ‘yes’.”
