I was FORCED to watch that polka-shit sound violation, when I was but a wee capt, in order to defer me from rock n' roll and be exposed to the pleasures of so-called 'real music'. My son refers it to the 'days before entertainment'.

I KNEW I had a brother out there somewhere!

Seriously, my parents got married late, and then they were told they couldn't have any children. Apparently I was a later in life surprise. Dad's idea of music was what he'd heard in the Navy in WW2, Frank Sinatra and the like (I think he secretly liked the Grand Ole Opry as well). Mom's taste was even older, if such a thing were possible.

My musical tastes are pretty eclectic, but don't really delve into the "champagne music" realm.

FWIW, DD, we went to hear the Jimmy Dorsey band in downtown WS last year. Also, if I begin to dance, I can no longer be the designated driver.

Cool. We went to see the Glenn Miller Orchestra in Greensboro last year and danced to them twice at the Grove Park Inn during Big Band Weekend last January and this year, too.
