But DD, I was going to post the following directed at you. "You know, I really like you."

Are you saying that is annoying? ;)

No. I was referring to the, you know, when s/he was like, umm, and I was like, you know, umm. That kind of conversation when every 3rd or 4th word is a "pause" or "filler" word.

But thanks anyway :-* .

Not that I've ever heard.
Might want to consult OED on this one. ;)

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned "Nucular"? :D

"commonsensical"

I just read this in an AP article on a Supreme Court ruling: "[Justice] Roberts took a decidedly commonsensical approach to the matter."

When he said "y'all" I thought he was talking about Canucks and we do not say it that way. Also, in Britain, how it is pronounced would depend on regional accents so that announcer on that show saying it that way does not indicate that everyone does. For example, my Scottish parents don't pronounce it the way that announcer does.

Dude,
OED uses three syllables. Get over it. Follow your gold standard. ;)
Cheers,

Well if the OED says that is the correct pronunciation then it is.

Now that I love! In fact, I do one helluvan imitation most nights after listening to the Yankee radio broadcast on mlb.com.

For those of you who don't live in your favorite team's radio market, for $19.95/year you get EVERY radio broadcast online - home and away broadcasts (unlike XM Radio), even Spanish language broadcasts if needed. I love it. I'm on my third year of the service! http://mlb.com/mediacenter/

Thuhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Yankees win!

Glad for you. We longsuffering Baltimore fans are used to losing, and wouldn't we HATE to have Yankees fans jumping off bridges and ledges if they had a two-game losing streak to the O's.

:-? Well, some Yankees fans, anyway.

I didn't re-read the whole thread, but if it hasn't been posted, this short contains all the very worst in corporate-speak (starting about 1 minute in) - it's very funny.

It's not a term or cliche, but incorrect apostrophes ("cliche's" in the title of this thread) annoy me. :)

This little video displays plenty of overused language from the corporate world!

I would like to add two more terms which are used to sound more sophisticated while continuing to be anything but..... colleagues, rather than co-workers or similar unassuming term, and craft as a verb instead of words like make, create, etc.

I am a long-suffering Orioles fan.

What really is the deal with Angelos? Has he just figured out a way for the team to give him a little profit while still sucking? Has he no shame? His name in Baltimore is "Mud." He's getting older. Does he not care about his legacy? God I wish the O's would be relevant again.

EBW(may he rest in peace!)J, I don't get it either. I read one time that Angelos is a total a**hole, but it seems to me if he would throw enough money at stars, they'd come to Baltimore to play. He must just be interested in making money without caring what product he puts on the field. And he's got more money than God, for pete's sake. He was one of the bigwig attorneys in the tobacco lawsuit and made a pile of cash. He's like the Al Davis of baseball, only willing to throw money at has-beens and drafting guys who can't hit the curve.
