And paralyze the area for another week. No thanks. Not any more. It was fun while growing up but not any more.DukeUsul wrote:Dodged what bullet? Done!OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Adding to my post count and the above discussion, from the linkOZZIE4DUKE wrote:"Bizzard" is forecast for Boone and the surrounding areas tonight and tomorrow, with low temps in the low teens. Brrrrr. http://www.booneweather.com/Forecast/BooneFolks who don't actually read the forecast but talk about it anyway will be naysayers about sunset today; then will become believers again Wednesday. Behind the front this evening, sharply colder air (rivaling the coldest of the season thus far) will arrive on gusty NW winds. Later tonight, Wednesday, and early morning Thursday, expect snow and blowing snow with blizzard conditions at times. Temperatures will be bitterly cold (low single digits up to and 10° to 15° in valleys) by Wednesday morning. Winds will be brutal gusting to 55 mph during the daytime Wednesday and to 70 mph Wednesday night. Gusty winds will continue well into Thursday. Winds chills on mountaintops will be below -30° and below -10° in valleys.
Heck, why don't you go ahead and copy/paste it on DBR, too.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Yeah, I should copy that post over here!

Atlanta tends to be about 12-24 hours ahead of the Piedmont of N.C. in weather, and true to form, those high winds are here. It's howling outside. And in a 20-minute drive, the temp dropped four degrees. Getting collllllllllllllld!Very Duke Blue wrote:I dread the hight winds coming tonight. I hope everyone is home safe and sound.
I don't miss living in the mountains one bit. My place was 3/4 way up a mountain, with a 1/2 mile long dirt driveway. Long spells like this of shitty weather meant lots of days of parking at the bottom and walking up.
