Forget the sandbox fight between RR and WEC. What amazes me is the crappy service contract. Evidently, there aren't any SLAs to enforce. The purpose of a service contract is to keep the instrument up and running, so that it can be used for its intended purpose. After some reasonable repair threshold, (2 weeks?), I'd be escalating with the vendor for immediate repair or replacement. I've worked for guys who would say, "I've been down for 2 months so I'm not paying 1/6 of the contract." Any good service contract should be tied to percentage of up time.

The tree is bought and up. The candles are in the windows, the Christmas flag is up, the wreath is on the garage. We need another strand, or three, of lights, a red bow for the wreath, the stockings need to go up, and the Christmas Snoopy needs to make his appearance and freak out the dogs.

I found my Duke Santa hat in the bin with the lights and the stockings. :happy-bouncyblue: :duke:

Easy to root against FSU but easier when family peace calls to rooting for GT.

I agree 10,000% - I thought the same thing when I read the post the first time (something like 'are there NO SLAs? in the contract <SLA = Service Level Agreement>)
If she is paying 40k for a service contract that has no SLA component RR is a bigger idiot than I thought - and THAT is going some :)

FSU has found a way to carve a Win each week. Dadgummit!

I don't have anything againest FSU, except that Jamesis has tainted their program the last 2 years with his antics and entitled attitude, on and off the field.

So I will pull for anybody else to win the National Championship!!!!

And the OLE ROY show is on now on abc. He was talking about the "DadGum Iowa Game". Bless his heart! And then had to discuss the Battle of Atlantis (Butler lose also). Ole Roy was not sporting "BLUE" colors today on the show. He has on a creme covered sweater and turtleneck. Surprised Roy wasn't wearing Black or an ugly Christmas Sweater.

Up at 12 noon, will be the Coach K show!!!!!!!!!! :happy-bouncyblue: :duke: :duke: :duke:

Turk and Windsor, I've been telling RR for WEEKS that she needs to be calling someone high up in the company and pitching a fit over exactly the point you raised. It took a few visits to convince the service engineer that there was a problem, and they still haven't fixed it. For all the good it has done, the call has been escalated. RR is pretty worthless; MacGyver dealt with all this sort of thing in the past. If it was me, I would be calling and demanding that my service contract be extended by the amount of time the instrument has been down. With that being said, not my circus, not my monkeys. She hasn't taken any of my advice on the situation up to now, and I'm done offering.

I'm only involved because Boris has asked for my help several times, and he is a good dude. That, and I'm really curious about what the heck is wrong with the instrument. I like a good puzzle, and instrument troubleshooting is one of my things. Boris is still learning, and I'm not going to leave him hanging when he asks for help. If Bar Minion was still around, she'd be on her own. Of course, before she left she told Boris the instrument was fine. Yeah, she'll make a great applications specialist.

Boris was in a car accident the Friday after Thanksgiving. Traffic ahead of him stopped, and he just missed hitting the truck in front of him. However, a truck pulling a boat slammed into the back of his car. His car was totaled, and he had a serious concussion. He wasn't able to work for much of last week due to headaches and nausea. I'm just glad that it wasn't worse. Cars can be replaced; Borises can't.

When Boris did make it back in, he asked me if I would consider selling him my car. It's a little over 10 years old and has 120K miles on it, but it's probably got another 100K left in it (it's a 2004 Accord EX-V6). I love my car, but I've been toying with the idea of an upgrade for a while now. Hence, this comes at an opportune time. And, ironically, the KBB value of my car is exactly the same as his car, although his car was 2 years newer. Gotta love having a car with a good resale value. The same day that we had our conversation, the battery in my car died. So, Boris will be getting a car with a brand new battery, a new starter, and all new belts as of the 100K mile service.

I test drove a 2015 CRV yesterday and really liked it. I'm trying to make myself test drive a couple of other cars, but I think I've found my new vehicle. I told the dealership that I had a buyer for my car; they suggested that I bring it there and do an "in and out" deal. Basically, I give them the car and they sell it straight to Boris for the agreed upon price. Are any of you familiar with such deals? Is this a good idea?

I see no reason to involve the dealership. There MUST be something in it for them or they wouldn't do it. At the very least they will try and make some $ on the backend (finance, prep, warranty)

Congrats on the car...I just got a new/used car (i work with a wholesaler - so it is very easy) Chevy Captiva is the new dog mobile. love it.

What Windsor said (as always!). The dealer is in business to make money, regardless of how "good people" they are. Maybe they want to finance Boris's purchase, although it sounds like he'll pay cash? The benefit for you to go through the dealer is that the trade in value may reduce the sales tax you pay on your new car, which is nice! It works that way in nc, don't know if it's the same in Texas. And, they'll handle the paperwork on the sale of the used car instead of you and Boris having to do it.

Congrats on the new ride! Have you looked at any Hyundai's? The vehicles, and warranties, are top notch, and a comparable Hyundai to your CRV may be $thousands less. I think that model would be a "Tuscon". Happy motoring! :9f:

Ozzie, my concern is exactly as both you and Windsor said. The sales guy did mention something about saving me $400 in sales tax, and it would be nice to not have to mess with paperwork. This one might be Boris' call, once we both get more info. I'm not sure what his time frame is at this point. He still doesn't have the replacement money from the other driver's insurance company, and they were trying to weasel out of paying. He finally lawyered up.

I like the Boots!!!! On sale for a Mere $279 ?

I have the Duke Rain/Snow boots I bought at Cracker Barrell last year for $30/$40 in that range. I wore them to rainy games, and through all the bad snow and ice we had and to the Night Football games (Unc and Wake) Kept my feet warm, and I was able to wear extra socks also!

No boots for me!

Pear sauce? Is there such a thing? I have a bunch of them from a holiday fruit basket and was wondering what to do with them. I'm not a fan of them in their current form.

That would be a yes. I am not a pear fan (I don't like the texture) but pear sauce sounds interesting.
