Today's fun courthouse T-shirt: a woman with Popeye, with the caption "I didn't slap you, my hand high-fived your face."
I was hoping she was an assault defendant, but it turns out she gave her sister's name when she got stopped for running a stop sign.
(In another karmic matter, her sister was wanted, she was not. She spent 4 days in jail before they figured out she wasn't her sister.)

Seriously, when you and CathyCA write your book, I want a copy. I'll come to the launch party so I can get an autographed copy.

Re: LTE 2.0
Road Runner still hasn't spoken with Bar Minion. Bar Minion went crying to MacGyver earlier this week because "RR wouldn't talk to her and she didn't know what to do." I relayed this to RR. Her response was, "Try doing your job, bitch." (something she should've been saying for the past couple of years....)
Meanwhile, Bar Minion refuses to do things that are actually a part of her job, thus continuing to drive nails into her own coffin. Road Runner is continuing to gather documentation. Boris has had instrument problems all week, but Bar Minion has barely lifted a finger to help. (And, yes, it is BM's job to keep the instrument running.) Last I saw, Boris and BGS were fixing it. Bar Minion dared to send Road Runner an email updating her on the status of the instrument. This strategy has worked for her in the past, but no more. (Recall that one of my ongoing gripes has been that she claims credit for tasks performed by others in the group.) Since Road Runner is FINALLY on to BM's game, she is going to request a document from Bar Minion in which she describes the instrument problem and provides a complete description of exactly what she did to fix the problem. She's then supposed to send it around to everyone else in the group so they will know how to resolve the issue in the future. Classic and oh-so-perfect. Busted, bitch.

Are you morally opposed to hidden cameras? I would really like to watch when RR (and probably an HR rep as well) sit down the Bar Minion.
Oh, and I think the 'described the problem and how you fixed it' is brilliant. Brilliant.

Re: LTE 2.0
So, Virginia finally passed a budget. It includes a $3300 raise for ACA's. Last year there was the same raise, and theoretically new ACA's will now make the same money that new assistant Public Defenders make. Meanwhile, the office is on a shoestring budget. We are supposed to make double side copies of everything possible, use the back sides of papers once whatever is on the front side is used up, pay 6 cents a sheet for our personal copies, etc., etc., etc.
We get a letter today from Jethro. Not a memo, a three page letter. (Other than Awbrey the newbie, there were no other ACA's in the office, as Midget Perv and Randy the Genius are on vacation.) It details the fact that we are getting this raise, and how hard he worked to make sure he got it, and how thoughtful Varnish County is for not sucking up our raise into what they pay us, since they cover an average of $23,000 of our salaries. (An out-and-out misrepresentation, because there is no way in hell they are paying 23K of my salary. He is including their paying our personal health insurance, which since they pay every county employee's, I don't see how somehow that benefits just us. Plus, Bob told me their help was significantly less than that. But I digress.)
The reason for his three page memo is that he expects, by July 11, for the four of us to write letters to the appropriate state delegates, state senators, and the county manager to thank each of them for his/her insuring that we got said raise. The letters are supposed to be specific to each person and let the person know what we will do with the money, and helpfully included suggestions such as student loans, helping our family members, etc. And we are to make two copies of each letter (except to the county manager, where one copy will do.) It also listed the addresses of each person and how we should address them in salutation.
There are SIXTEEN senators and delegates. So, instead of the brief to the Court of Appeals, instead of trying to figure out which videos I want to charge on in my child porn case, I will be writing letters. Seventeen of them. And making copies. And placing them in envelopes and mailing said envelopes. So for the four of us, that's an entire pack of letterhead paper, thirty two dollars worth of stamps (plus, I assume, a large, economy sized envelope to send the copies to the Virginia Commonwealth's Attorney's Association, and extra stamps for those), and countless hours of make work.
I plan to say, "Dear Senator (blank), thank you for my extra money. I plan to use it to hire male prostitutes and purchase methamphetamine."

Re: LTE 2.0
I would so document the cost of this little endeavor, including your time. The cost is probably just about equal to your raise. So, you could say, "Dear Senator (blank), thank you for the extra money. It was used to offset the cost do the thank you letters I'm required to send to you and your colleagues."lawgrad91 wrote:So, Virginia finally passed a budget. It includes a $3300 raise for ACA's. Re: LTE 2.0
Today's fun: I was at a farewell luncheon for a colleague and received a frantic phone call from BGS. BM was headed for the lab to get the log book in which BGS and Boris had written a detailed description of their work on the instrument. Fortunately I was only 1 floor down from the lab, so I literally ran upstairs and hid the log book.
She'll have to use some other source to document the work she is claiming to have done.

I would so love a hidden camera in their meeting, which has been scheduled for next week. Also would've loved to see her reaction to the missing log book with the details of the repair she didn't do. Maybe I should photocopy the relevant pages for RR and then put the logbook back in its correct space.windsor wrote:ArkieDukie wrote:Road Runner still hasn't spoken with Bar Minion. AD, I would definitely make a copy of the logbook for future reference. If BM falsifies anything it could be really useful.
