That client sounds like she could be one of my clients.

Today's judge told us that his favorite court shirt was one that a defendant was wearing on the stand while he was testifying. The judge said the writing was kind of fuzzy, but as he looked at it, he managed to see that it read, "What are you staring at, asshole?"

The guy swapped the shirt for something in orange when he got to his new digs. :9f:

Five years and under 5,000 posts. That is not very many on a per day basis.

I'll be generous and give you 5000. That would mean an estimated 1000 posts per year. Given that each year contains 365 days (ignoring leap years), that's roughly 3 posts per day. Not quite up to the usual PW standards.

How many posts does devildeac have? The per-day post calculation for him would probably blow up my calculator. ;;) :D

Love both of these stories. You guys should seriously consider writing a blog to share your daily experiences. Barring that, you need to start a "stupid clients I have known" thread as a repository so we can find them easily.

Brief update: had a chat with The Boss yesterday in which he asked my opinion on the personnel swap as proposed by Road Runner. A few recent events have made me rethink the wisdom of working for RR full-time. Therefore, I gave The Boss a well-reasoned list of pros and cons, leaning toward cons. One con is that I don't trust her. The other biggie is that I've recently started some work for a couple of colleagues. As I told The Boss, it's part of my job to help them get preliminary data to get grants, and I don't feel like I can bail on them (which is true). The Boss is concerned that she'd get mad at me for some reason and cut my job. Based on what I've seen, I can totally see her doing that. Therefore, we decided to maintain the status quo. Since I do have some degree of respect for The Boss, I told him that I would not want Bar Minion anywhere near my lab and filled him in on a few facts. He thanked me and told me he had decided what he was going to do (didn't tell me what, though). This means that Road Runner will cut Bar Minion loose at the end of the fiscal year and she will no longer be at our institution. So, as of August 31, buh bye biyotch!

Bar Minion got herself into even more hot water today. She was pressuring Boris to let her run some samples, and he came to me asking for advice. The samples are for another faculty member in our department, and their analysis requires a change in the current instrument configuration. I told Boris to direct BM to Road Runner, since it is rightfully her call to make. That's also what Road Runner told me to do when this issue came up last week. Road Runner is out of town, so I figured BM would just lie and tell us that RR gave her permission to run the samples. Instead, she did the worst possible thing she could've done. She wrote RR an email, COPYING THE OTHER FACULTY MEMBER, and said something to the effect of, "I was planning to run samples for Dr. Colleague today, but Boris told me I had to ask you first. Is there some reason I can't use the instrument?" Saying that Road Runner was pissed is an understatement of epic proportions. RR wrote a not so nice response to BM about the inappropriate nature of her actions. I only know this because she forwarded the message to me and told me to warn the rest of the group that BM would likely be on the warpath. That bitch cannot be gone soon enough.

AD - sounds like a bit of progress in the getting rid of toxic workers front. Hopefully, things will continue on an upward trend.

It's summertime, and our local defendants dress for the weather, not for the occasion. We have a rule that shorts aren't allowed in the courtroom. So, yesterday morning, the judge sent a defendant home to put on long pants before he would hear his case. The defendant's shorts were baggy and fell below his knees, but they were shorts. I'm certain that he was scratching his head, as was I, when the next defendant was able to present her case. This defendant was a woman, wearing leggings, a tight tank top and a shrug.

I could see everything God gave her and then some. . . :veryconfused: But her "pants" were long.

Our courthouse dress code needs to be revised.

We have the same type of dress code. No shorts and no tank tops.

I had a case where one of the Commonwealth's witnesses would have dressed out at 400 pounds, and she was wearing a skirt that probably would have been tight on me, and short on me. When the witnesses were sequestered and she got up to leave the room, I saw the judge looking at her and I stage whispered, "It's a skirt, Your Honor." And he whispered back, "My God. Poke my eyes out." :9f:

Hey, little vibe request here. My sons were fooling around and Michael (my 8 year old) got his right arm sucked up in a treadmill. He lost most of the skin on his forearm and palm, and possibly a hairline fracture. I keep telling him you always lose fights woth inanimate objects, but he never learns. He was very blessed that it wasn't worse, but he's got a month or more of recovery and daily bandage changes. They're treating it as a second degree burn. Any healing and anti-infection vibes would be very appreciated. In return, I'll spare you the pictures.
