One of the major points of the constitution is that legal contracts formed in one state must be honored in all states. Sort of the point of the "union." That way, if I get married in Virginia, I don't have to get remarried if I move to California. Or if I drive through a neighboring state, my driver's license is still good and I don't have to pay a fee for owning my car or the stuff in it. Similarly, if a same sex couple gets married in Massachusetts, by the constitution, every state SHOULD have to honor it.
I expect that this argument will be coming soon to Supreme Court near you.
I think the Supremes will continue to ignore the big question and bite around the edges. I think they will continue to to discuss property rights, medical decision rights, things like that.
Of course, I've been wrong before.

Escargot and bread. Trying to finish it off. Had too much for lunch so was trying to economize at dinner.

I've only been here since Fall 2008, so chances are good they don't.
But you never know!

Is anyone else stuck with 1 new message in their inbox but nothing there? I even deleted all the new ones I got since the episode in April, but no change.

So, the special needs dog who I mentioned earlier this week won. But get this, someone contested the win. Not sure who, perhaps the contest sponsor or someone who came close but didn't win. I can make a case for both, the shock of the sponsor(Holly Madison) when a special needs pet wins or another entrant who lost to the underdog. In the land of the underdog, shouldn't the latter be okay?

Not here, but our crappy Lotus Notes case management system at the salt mine has 6 ghost messages for me. No one has ever seen it before, and no one knows what to do about it. They've been there since we got the system in like 2002.

After completing the purchase of cemetery lots the other day, the Old Ref lovingly pointed out to me that when the time comes, I would truly be happy at this spot cuz there is a cell tower just to the west of the property and I could take my iPad with me and have excellent reception forever! Now you know why there is never a dull moment at our house! Love that guy!

I was too cheap to get an iPad. I ended up with a Nook HD+. This means of course that B&N will get out of the tablet business shortly. I am the harbinger of doom if you have a semi-floundering technology. Well, HD DVD was the superior technology but Sony paid off some of the studios to go Blu-ray. I've had Palm phones. I was a little too young to influence the Betamax - VHS debate. We went VHS. Of course, the family went Odyssey 2 instead of Atari, so we have a history of poor technology decisions. We also owned a Renault Encore just to underscore our poor judgement.
