Thanks, AD. I hope your conference is going well and that you are enjoying Minneapolis.ArkieDukie wrote:Shin kicks to the evil spirits making your day not-so-great.DukieInKansas wrote:Thanks for listening/reading/ignoring.
I'll return the shin kicks and direct them to all those that have made you lab life miserable over the years. Sounds like things may be catching up to some of them. Yes, former PHB, I'm kicking at you.

Yep - that's pretty much the conclusion I had already come to. Nothing like being reminded of your former boss' tendencies toward dishonesty to make one go running in the other direction. I don't want to even set foot in the building.windsor wrote:ArkieDukie wrote:I Yep - my friend caught PHB outright in committing fraud. Kinda puts a whole new slant on the "interesting dilemma" thread, doesn't it? I now know for certain that PHB also has no issue whatsoever in lying about data when it's expedient to do so. This makes it more likely that he was complicit with my old friend The Minion on the infamous manuscript. The jury is still out on whether Pushy PI was involved as well.
Thought shalt NOT return to your old job. Ever. Not Ever. Doing work that doesn't excite you is far better than being painted with the FRAUD brush. That kind of crap reflects on each and every person in the lab, and they are assumed complicit.
A friend who also knows PHB said, when I told her this story, "There's no way he'd do that. What does he have to gain?" Basically jumped all over me. I completely dropped the conversation at that point. I know exactly why he did it: it was a face-saving manuveur. He had been called out publicly regarding data quality, and that had to stick with the powers-that-be who were in the room. He liked the results better from the other list, though. She can choose to believe that PHB is not capable of such behavior. Having worked with him and seen him in action, I know better.

Has your friend never heard of CYA? Or does he/she think it has to do with Catholic Youth?ArkieDukie wrote:A friend who also knows PHB said, when I told her this story, "There's no way he'd do that. I threw a tantrum yesterday. It was cathartic.DukieInKansas wrote:Just having one of those days where you feel like you should have a sign around your neck warning people away. Not sure if I want to scream, cry, curl into a ball, or what. I wish I were two and could throw a tantrum.
I did apologize today to coworker Jane, who was going to talk to the asshole who had screamed at Shannon and threatened to "pound some flesh" when I told her brusquely, "MOVE!" and blew past her to lay the man out. Jane was not offended. Shocked maybe, but not offended. Probably glad she did not have to deal with him.

The Rev. Lawgrad is watching Duck Dynasty, just to see what all the fuss was about. Miss Kay is eating squirrel brains because they "make you smart."
Imagine how smart I could have been if my parents had fed me squirrel brains.

Isn't a variant of mad cow disease found in squirrel brains?lawgrad91 wrote:The Rev. Lawgrad is watching Duck Dynasty, just to see what all the fuss was about. Miss Kay is eating squirrel brains because they "make you smart."

Also, she might end up like the gentleman in ICU from the dog food diet (see Joke thread) but instead of a poodle she might follow a squirrel into the road.

I suspect if I watched enough of this I could lose weight from the loss of appetite.

Re: LTE 2.0
After getting rental car, first stop in St. Louis was to pick up the keys to my condo. The realtor was oh-so-conveniently gone, but he left a packet of papers and my keys. I went to the old place to look around, and I'm a bit miffed. Every blind and shade in the place was left open. Yeah, let's just advertise that it's vacant. The back door was unlocked, and the lock was messed up, like someone tried to lock it with the wrong key. The blinds in the bedroom were broken. So, the question: how ticked off should I be at my worthless former realtor?

A discussion with the realtor as to what you observed is in order. The lock situation is troubling.
If you still know someone in the neighborhood, you might have them walk by aevery now and then nd see if the blinds are down.

Extremely ticked off. With treatment like that, it is a wonder no one broke in and trashed the place.ArkieDukie wrote:After getting rental car, first stop in St. Louis was to pick up the keys to my condo. I would take pictures, find out what it will cost to replace the lock, blinds and anything else damaged and send the realtor the bill. If he doesn't take care of it, I would write to the Better Business Bureau.ArkieDukie wrote:After getting rental car, first stop in St. Louis was to pick up the keys to my condo.
