Thanks, I think. :oops:bjornolf wrote:Yay! I'm no longer the biggest whore on CTN! Thanks, DD, for taking the title from me finally. It was just too much pressure. Thank you all for all your support while I held the title, though. I hope I carried it with honor and dignity. Yea, right. ;)
Sorry I've been gone, y'all. Miss me? Probably not. Anyway, I've been planning and executing my son's fourth birthday. So, I've been pretty busy there. Also, I tracked down my half brother, whom I've never met or talked to, on the internet for my dad. Took me quite a while, since he'd changed his last name, but I did it. We've been emailing and talking a lot. 41 years for him to catch me up on, 34 for me to for him. It's been pretty amazing. We both always wanted a sibling and felt something was missing. The weird thing is that even though we were raised in COMPLETELY polar opposite environments (I had a strict mom who wanted me to be "proper" but a stable, loving home... he had a hippie, hitchhiking mom that dealt blackjack in Vegas for a while and taught him how to roll his first joint and anything BUT a stable home), we ended up with VERY similar interests, geek backgrounds (I'm an EE, he's an IT specialist), and senses of humor. We could totally be used for one of those studies of genetics v. environment. Anyway, things are going pretty well so far, so I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll see how things go. He lives in Jacksonville, I'm in Northern Virginia. We're trying to figure out the easiest way to get together. I always wanted nieces and nephews, and first cousins for my kids. Turns out we have six of those. Anybody got any advice generally on how to proceed (not physically how to get together, but with the relationship)?
Anyway, glad to be back. I notice I've got a lot of reading to do, so I'll get to it.
WOW. That's really cool that you found your half brother. I hope that you guys get to meet in person sometime soon.bjornolf wrote:Yay! I'm no longer the biggest whore on CTN! Count me as a cold caffeine person, especially Diet Coke with Lime. It tastes so much better in the plastic bottles rather than cans, but the bottles are hard to find except in the Qwik-E Marts.DukieInKansas wrote:That would be Diet Coke with Lime in my house.

Wow, congrats on finding your brother. Wonderful when it works out well. And great picture of the younguns up on the ellyphant. Pretty smart for it to smile just like the kids....bjornolf wrote:You mean, IRL? ;) Me too.
yep, I can relate! I can't imagine asking my mom to overnight it to me though, OMG! I think I might just contact my corporate IT and have them do it!wilson wrote:.... Only problem: I left my computer power cord in Atlanta. Mom's going to overnight it to me and I'll have it Tuesday morning, so it's not a huge problem; it was just a fucking stupid thing to do.
Very cool! All I can say is just DO IT! HE PUTS HIS PANTS ON THE SAME WAY YOU DO... well maybe ... okay, please don't share, TMI! I have two, a half bro and half sis (of whom I have never met), she appears to be a trouble maker, but verdict is still out! Not sure what motivation for her is after over 40+ years of being absent and then my Dad has a Quadruple bypass and walla, she comes out of no where! I am self sufficient, but just doesn't make sense!CathyCA wrote:WOW. That's really cool that you found your half brother. I hope that you guys get to meet in person sometime soon.bjornolf wrote:Yay! Yea, I'm pretty excited about it. I have always wondered what it would be like to meet him, ever since I was told about him as a kid. I'm trying to maintain the cautious part of cautiously optimistic, but it's hard.cl15876 wrote:Very cool! All I can say is just DO IT!
