That would be the other major concern. This particular issue would be included in any discussions I might have with Old Boss. I would definitely get in writing that no one would be allowed to change my work without including me in the discussion. I would also not want any sort of association with Pushy PI or The Minion. :9f:

FB has suggested all day that I should send my old friend Randy a birthday present, since he is 65 today.

Uh, FB, Randy is DECEASED. What, exactly, am I supposed to send a dead man?

I've decided to hold off for a bit longer before making any inquiries to Old Boss. If I decide I want to pursue this, I can bargain from a position of even greater strength if I get a few publications under my belt. I have a few things in the works right now that could generate some nice papers in high profile journals. In addition, my skill set is increasing at a near exponential pace. Again, greater bargaining power if I hold out just a wee bit longer. The down side is that I'd be paying for the old place for that much longer - that is, unless it sells soon.

There's another reason for my interest in moving, and it's not something I've mentioned. As you all know, my mom has frontotemporal dementia with early Alzheimer's. If needed, I can drop everything, hop in my car, and be at my parents' house in 5 hrs or less from my old place. From here, it would be an 11 hr trip. IMO there's something to be said for being within an easy drive of the family.

A nice box of cigars?

FWIW, some Chinese often burn paper replicas of items for loved ones under the idea that they will receive the item in the afterlife. That makes a box of cigars the perfect gift. Both parties could enjoy them, in theory.

Note to would-be criminals: if it looks like a cop and wants to buy drugs and/or guns from you, it's probably a cop. The cop doesn't have to tell you the truth when you ask, "are you a cop?" and it isn't somehow illegal for him/her to lie. L-) :9f:

Did Jethro try to buy drugs and/or guns from a cop?
