Bjornolf, I'm so sorry.
I hope you'll make it a happy day for your kids and their mom.

GRRRR! The Glad Press-n-Seal wrap that I bought this week has a snowflake and mitten pattern on it. I think I now know why it was on sale.

Bless you and yours. I know it will be hard. You do have wonderful memories of your mom. Remember them.bjornolf wrote:This will be a BRUTAL weekend. I couldn't leave the laptop home because I couldn't find my phone charger. My phone is my modem for the internet plus it charges my phone. No withdrawal. That's a good thing.Very Duke Blue wrote:I am planning on leaving my pc here for this trip. Hope I don't have withdrawal.

That's the problem. The one guy I can REALLY share the day with is gone for the weekend. I will, as ever, push through.lawgrad91 wrote:Bjornolf, major vibes to you. Hang in there, Bjornolf. Mother's days suck without your own mom. As our neighbor said when Mom passed away, be grateful you have a mother to miss. He had a rotten relationship with his mother and didn't really miss her when she was gone - he never got a chance to understand our pain. If you need to vent or talk, feel free to call. (I can pm you my number.) I can share my other woman story with my dad.bjornolf wrote:That's the problem. The one guy I can REALLY share the day with is gone for the weekend. Take solace and comfort in the loving arms of your wife and kids.

Man! Car sales and assemblys are going gangbusters! I'm now 2nd from the bottom of the seniority list after today's layoffs.
I speak quite fluent sarcasm.
We have 85 guys on roster and are now down to 20 that are actually working.

Is the drop in business due to the problems in Japan? Don't many of the car manufacturers rely on parts from Japan?

Re: LTE 2.0
Not so much, in our case anyway. We lost the Honda business about a month ago. That is being affected but to another 'jackleg' outfit. Our only manufacturer customer now is Ford. This company started delivering Fords at the time Ol' Henry first started an assembly line.ArkieDukie wrote:

We are at new labor contract negotiation time. Our current CBA expires May 31. We are not requesting anything new for the upcoming agreement. We only want to maintain what we already have. I figure that the Honda, and possibly some GM and Chrysler business, will come into play at the 11th hour. They'll probably tell us they can get this work back if only we'd agree to a pay cut.
Picket lines can be fun! Life is what you make it.

Re: LTE 2.0
You are correct, but I haven't heard of Ford being directly affected. It may yet be however.
Honda actually shut down assembly lines here in the US.
Some makes have US parts facilites for their own use. Honda, for example, builds all their CV joints (constant velocity axles), at a lawnmower plant in Mebane, NC. I used to haul those things up to their Marysville, OH plant.

I thought I read somewhere that a slowdown was either coming or had already happened due to the problems in Japan. Sending more job vibes your way, captmojo.captmojo wrote:You are correct, but I haven't heard of Ford being directly affected. It may yet be however.

Re: LTE 2.0
The baby shower was great. Tye's aunts went all out with the brunch. It was awesome. Donna and Tye got lots of really nice presents for Baby Henry. Bud took DukePA and Adam to the airport around noon. I wished they could have stayed for the whole shower but as it is, they won't get back to Emerald Isle until midnight, if all goes well. Our plan leaves tomorrow morning at 7:00. I hope we can get back within a couple of months after Baby Henry arrives.
