2 Cats show up just before Christmas, no collars, never saw them before. We feed, so of course, they stay. But, they are under constant probational scrutiny. They are deathly afraid of my feet...and damn near everything else.

While I stepped out down to Mom's for a few minutes early tonight, a young lady knocks on the door and convinces the First Mate to caretake an adult male Bassett Hound that was wandering along the side of the highway out in front of the house. He is now in the vacant fenced lot out back. He answers to the name 'Hey you! Shut up!". Occasionally he answers to "Hey you! Shut the fuck up!" Someone needs to show up soon to claim him. I know this hound will howl ALL NIGHT.

Well, Hey you!, being the digging sort of breed he is, found his way out of the chain link lot. We are now gonna try his abilities in the local city jail. A search for his owners will go into effect tomorrow. If the owner cannot be found within the time afforded, they will contact me before putting him down. A very friendly young critter. I hate to see him executed just for being a wandering wayfarer.

I wish the bird who has taken up residence right outside my bedroom window would Hey you! Shut the fuck up!. At least until 7:30 am or so. This 5:45 bullshit is, well, for the birds.
