We arrive in Denver early tomorrow afternoon and then drive across southeastern Wyoming to Martin, SD, on the western edge of the Pine Ridge reservation (right near Wounded Knee, for those of you who know Native American history). Our trip will include Mt. Rushmore, Wall Drug, the Badlands, and Custer State Park (the biggest state park in the U.S., with bison, prairie dogs, elk, etc.) on the back end. I'll be sure and bring back good pics, and I'm strongly considering purchasing a mounted jackalope at Wall Drug.

Have a great time! How exactly do you plan to get the jackalope home with you?

If I actually get a jackalope, I'll ship it. I looked online yesterday though, and they're pretty expensive. I dunno.

Wilson - safe travels and look forward to hearing about your experiences touching others and those that you've touched! Also, I can't wait to see pics of the scenery and all those folks you'll be cooking for and the expressions on their faces! God speed! :-bd :ympray: ;)

Posting while using a bus' Wi-fi. Now I will need to post while on an airplane.

Why a bus? Because it was cheaper than driving myself, didn't want to park the new car in Manhattan, and think of the lower emissions per mile from me riding on a full bus than driving myself in the aforementioned car.

Good job, Ymo! Way to take advantage of public transportation. Also glad you're not posting while driving. :)

Cool idea. My son has made several bus trips from DC to NYC for about $40-50 round trip, depending on how far in advance he books the trip. That's just about the cost of a day's parking in NYC, then there's gas, tolls and NJ drivers...

Just finished grilling some baby back ribs with homemade sauce and corn on the cob. Enjoying it with a little fresh squeezed lemonade. Mmm-mmm! ;)

My, my, my. What have I done to deserve all this abuse?

Greetings from Hilton Head Island :D I start work on the sunburn tomorrow. Today I mostly watched the US Open and then went shopping with my brood (Beth, Jennifer and Patrick). We don't have Wifi in the rooms, so internet access is limited - I'm at the pool now (5:30) and there is wifi here, but it is tough to see the computer screen in the bright sunshine :D :D

I'm calling bullshit. I have been to the actual equator, that's standing directly on it, in Kenya. A guy there showed us a simple experiment with funnels. I saw with my own two eyes that even just a little bit of water (like half a pitcher's worth) swirls clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counter-clockwise 25 feet in the other direction. When we poured the water into the funnel on the equator, it just went straight down. :-o
Here it is in Uganda.
