Would you settle for a Dall's Porpoise? They sometimes get mistaken for small orcas.
Aside from logistic and ethical issues with "owning" social mammals... :ymblushing:
What I'm really getting at here is... which cetacean would you just like to see and have clear unobstructed view of?
Likewise, I could see hitting the lottery and owning a portion of the straits just south of Victoria, BC. Then I could claim to own an orca. All in all, orcas are just WAY cool. B-)
The killer whale pods in your part of the country would be the big reason, if we could ever afford it, to just chuck it all and move to Washington. Well, that and Rainier, the market, the Olympics, etc...

I can't side with blue whales and sperm whales. Too much time spent below the surface of the water. :Boo:
You just need to learn how to SCUBA dive! ;)

I'd vote for whale sharks, but they aren't actually cetaceans.

Here's what you need for whale watching from above the waterline:

My mom sent me this email from Chile today:
Today we went to the coastal town of Valparisio. It is high on the hills looking out on the Pacific. Parts of it reminded me of San Francisco. After lunch, we went to Vino del Mar/ upscale with Casino.

The most exciting thing was seeing the tube that brought the miners up. I could not believe how small it was. The capsule is on tour. It had been here in Santiago before going to Valparisio, second largest city in Chile.

We fly out in the morning.

Give everyone kisses from me.

Love, Mom/Catherine

Kisses to everyone from my mom: :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I was unaware that AOL Radio had an elevator music station, but B has found it on his laptop. I'm off to beat my head against the wall for a while. :angry-banghead: It's about as bad as the Chipmunks at Christmas.

Icky. My dad likes elevator music, too. I'm not a fan.

Call me crazy, but I don't mind the Chipmunks so much.

Since it's a lovely fall day, I have chili cooking away in the crock pot. Ymmm ... chili! I didn't have one of my usual pantry staples, Williams Chili Seasoning, so I googled a recipe for chili powder and made do with stuff I already have in the pantry: cayenne pepper, paprika, cumin, oregano, and garlic powder. I also added a dash of sage; a tip I picked up from one of my aunts. It adds an interesting flavor. Will have to sample after it cooks a bit longer to see if I need to add more of anything.
