ArkieDukie wrote: I just liked the music better. We did the Biebl Ave Maria (this was a SATB arrangement; normally it's TTBB; I was in the trio) and Hugo Distler's Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming (very different, hard as heck, and way cool). Those are the only two I remember off the top of my head - both were a capella. This year we're doing Wachet Auf (Bach) in German. We're also doing a Rutter piece. I think part of the problem is that I haven't been to enough of the rehearsals.

I adore Rutter! We're doing his Requiem in 2 weeks.

Which Rutter Advent/Christmas piece are you doing?
Oh, cool! I like the Rutter Requieum. My old choir did it, as well as the Rutter Gloria. I'm also a fan of his; I have a Rutter collection on CD. My favorite Rutter piece is his arrangement of "For the Beauty of the Earth." We're doing "What Sweeter Music" for our Lessons & Carols service - which is amazing, because my choir director doesn't like Rutter. Mental note: I need to listen to "What Sweeter Music" so I can learn my part.

I just listened to "What Sweeter Music" on youtube. Beautiful!

My favorite Rutter piece is "As The Bridegroom."

This sounds like a topic for ILJ. :ymblushing:

YES! And I know she's sung more than a few Rutter pieces in Chapel Choir!

ILJ may get to respond, but just a FYI, we had Rutter's Gaelic Blessing at our wedding in the Chapel.

Also a reminder that we just did our annual donation to WCPE. :D

And I just listened to Gaelic Blessing on youtube! I love that one, too!

What kind? I'm hoping to get this in the next week. (My first new car in 10 years!)

WHOOPS... wrong thread. :-B
I am leaning towards orcas (killer whales).
They don't do so well in captivity. Didn't you ever see "Free Willy"?! ;)

Would you settle for a Dall's Porpoise? They sometimes get mistaken for small orcas.

Aside from logistic and ethical issues with "owning" social mammals... :ymblushing:
What I'm really getting at here is... which cetacean would you just like to see and have clear unobstructed view of?
Likewise, I could see hitting the lottery and owning a portion of the straits just south of Victoria, BC. Then I could claim to own an orca. All in all, orcas are just WAY cool. B-)
The killer whale pods in your part of the country would be the big reason, if we could ever afford it, to just chuck it all and move to Washington. Well, that and Rainier, the market, the Olympics, etc...

I can't side with blue whales and sperm whales. Too much time spent below the surface of the water. :Boo:

Our choir calls that one Garlic Dressing.

I wish we would start on on Christmas/Advent music. This is driving me crazy - especially as I will be heading to PA for 2 weeks for Sister time so will miss some rehearsal time.

Guys...if something were to happen to your spouse(God forbid), is there any possible way you could see yourself living with your son's ex-wife?

A friend of mine, of 30+ years, has been doing this for the past two years.
I'm fuckin' lost for words. :ymsick:
At first I thought...well, she's gonna try to help to look after him during his bereavement.
THIS BITCH IS STILL THERE!
I don't know what to say to him about this. I'm most surprised that his son hasn't had a response, that I know of.

He now wants to use my shack in the mountains as a place to stay while they do an Autumn leaf tour.

Thoughts?
I miss his wife. What a great personality.

That's just plum weird. :-o

If I had the option of drinking five gallons of antifreeze or living with my ex-FAL, I would ask for a straw....

Oh, geez. #-o

Why am I not surprised? Somehow strange people always wind up in Henry County, or in Henry County court.

Ymo, you are WAY too normal to fit in there, unless you move close to one of the (few still-functioning) furniture factories and reside in the "varnish zone" for a while.
