Sweetwater IPA
Everything you'd expect in a blenderized glass of grapefruit juice and more. Pungent citrus and zest aroma and tastes from start to finish with a good balance of maltiness. Golden yellow, good foam and a moderate bite with an estimated IBU of 60-70 and and ABV probably about 6.5%. Haven't had one of these in a couple years and a drug rep was kind enough to leave 2 bottles outside of our usual trading session, so 1 for me and 1 for CB&B next weekend.

Bottle #1) Good looking container. Harlequin patterned foil surrounds the neck of the bottle. Pours a beautiful amber, very clear. Fizzy. Mmm, I like fizz. Smells appetizing. First taste, crisp and refreshing, dry and malty sweet. I'll have another.devildeac wrote:
Bottle #3) This stuff could use a little music. I hit the power on the radio and tune to the blues station. It does enhance the experience. Steaks are seasoned so I light the grill. Smoke wafts through the air, attracting the arrival of my eastern European neighbor, Dmitri Sunoffobitch. He's feeling thirsty, too. We share the stash. He's a funny dude. Hillarity ensues.
#5) Steaks were good. Beer's gettin' better! Down to the last bootle...ugh, bottle. Yeah, that's the right spelling. Dim's wife drove him to drink. He lost his license and it's too far to walk to get to the store. He says, "Ve shud ride bikes for store, so as to replenish inventory." Okey dokey!
#8) Where is Dim's pants? He says mine is gone, too. But he'sh a damn liar. I got on shum shorts.
#10) I'se noddin' now. I'se winkin' an blinkin' too! Dis shit ish rilly gud! We likes it. Shing dat song, girl! I like her. Gud band too. Open me another one.
#12) Did I eat? I donnt mamember. Dam neer fel ashleep at de handlebars. Gess I shoulda stayed home a while back. Oh...wat de Hell.
Brite lites in de driveway. Sum blue uns. Gotta go! Can I hide?
Some how, I made it to the bed. I'll try it again later. Damn Dmitri. It's his fault.
I'm stickin' to that story.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Raspberry Brown Winter Ale-Otter Creek
A trader with my drug rep buddy a couple weeks ago. I just couldn't drink this in 90 degree weather so I waited until this weekend. When it was only 85 . Hey, gimme a break. It did get down to the 50s overnight so this was a nice fall ale. Medium brown pour, modest tan head, little bitterness and more milk chocolate and nutty tastes than raspberry which was quite subtle. I'd guess the IBU about 30 and the ABV on the bottle was 5.8%. This would be a good brew to have with a pork tenderloin, green beans and cinnamon apples or applesauce. It would be enjoyable as an after dinner beverage, too.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Heresy-Weyerbacher Brewing
This is their Old Heathen imperial stout aged in old oak bourbon barrels. It has the typical features of an imperial stout with an almost black color and tastes rich in dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and, of course, bourbon. The whiskey notes are subtle but present in the aroma and palate. I'd guess the IBU about 60-70 and the ABV is on the bottle at 8%. That would be my only complaint about this offering is that it is just a bit thin on body and ABV. Otherwise, round up the usual suspects of a flourless chocolate torte or brownies and sip on it at room temperature with your dessert, or, just pour yourself 12 ounces and make it your dessert beverage. I think I actually bought this one myself and included it in a trader with CB&B and gave one to my son and one to my drug rep trading buddy.

Chatoe Rogue First Growth Single Malt Ale-Rogue Brewing
Quite a unique brew made with 4 ingredients: Rogue Micro Barley Farm First Growth Dare Malt, Rogue Micro Hopyard First Growth Revolution Hops, free range coastal water and Pacman Yeast. This was a trader with CB&B and a brew I have never had before but knew Rogue was growing their own hops and had a few brews they were marketing with this pitch. It's a pale ale with a slightly yellow-golden color and is rather herbalicious on the nose and palate. Somewhat foamy 2-3 finger head and just a bit of light caramel sweetness. Plato is 12 degrees which should translate to about an ABV of 5% and the IBU are 35. This would be matched nicely with simple grilled chicken with some herbal spices and the same with some lighter grilled seafood, perhaps with a bit of lemon/butter basting. I think this was about $6 for a bomber that I enjoyed over the last 2 nights. Well done, sir.

I laughed at that, too, and almost put a comment in parentheses. I guess it has no HGH or antibiotics added.captmojo wrote:I'm sorry...but, 'free-range water'? Isn't all water...'free-range'?

Hazelnut Brown Nectar-Rogue Brewing
Mrs. DD's impression after a micro taste: "It's carbonated."
Sigh.
"Official" review to follow tomorrow night.

Has anyone mentioned Sam Adam's Oktoberfest yet? I'm getting caught up on the boards.
Had two of these last night. By far my favorite of the Sam Adams line.

For EJ.captmojo wrote:As I reported over in the stadium, Sam Adams(brewer, patriot,my hero), has released this year's edition of Oktoberfest brew.
Came in damned handy last night as it mercifully allowed me to stare woefully at the insides of my eyelids for most of the 4th quarter. It also was damned tasty, to boot. Even better than any of Maggio's boots.
I still possess optimism.
