I find this really interesting. Chad Chronister (bless your parents' naming skills) was and now isn't Trump's pick for the DEA. I had no idea who he was, because, I'm like the rest of America.
Here's part of his statement.
Sheriff Chronister, the top law enforcement officer in Hillsborough County, Florida, said in a post on X that he was backing away from the opportunity, which he called “the honor of a lifetime.”
“Over the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I’ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration,” Chronister wrote. He did not elaborate, and Trump's transition team did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
My guess is that he's got some skeletons that were about to be loosed out of his closet. Same thing that took Gaetz down, except his were mostly known.
Note to Team Trump...vetting is done for a reason.
Yes, CC may very well be more invested in continuing to serve his local community as he further posted, but I ain't buying that. Does a football coach stay at Coastal Carolina when the ACC calls? Only if they are about to be exposed for cheating on the wife while cheating on an exam at Carolina.
Long story short...Mr. Trump might look into the idea of vetting, as much as it pains him.
PS...CC might be totally true to form and sticking with the home team because they need him...but I'm withholding my giggles.
It would have been ironic if they discovered years of rampant drug use or other related activities from the guy chosen to run the DEA. I agree that someone probably told him there would be a lot of people doing a deep dive into his background and he realized this was a bad idea. In an ideal world, the local newspapers where he lives would now also realize this and do a deep dive into his background, but local newspapers barely exist anymore so that is unlikely to happen.
I generally don't get my jollies out of having people get exposed but when they are chronies of Trump (Chad "the Chronie" Chronister) it does become very enjoyable.

He only chooses the best people!
Okay, back to beg more popcorn before the next act of the show starts.

Looks like Trump is already seeing the writing on the wall about Hegseth. He has a possible replacement. Ron DeSantis.
I wonder if this would be a hire to fire?

Remember Trump’s transactional nature. DeSantis is currently considering who to appoint to Rubio’s Senate seat. Trump will get him to appoint Lara Trump in a trade for the Pentagon.

HA! Well I was wrong in my guess as to why Chronister pulled out of the DEA appointment.
On Wednesday, however, Trump said in a social media post, mainly focused on his grievances against the Wall Street Journal, he pulled his support for the pick over previous comments Chronister made about “my pastors and other supporters.”
“He didn’t pull out, I pulled him out, because I did not like what he said to my pastors and other supporters,” Trump said on Truth Social.
So did Trump nominate him knowing what mean things he had said, just to publicly humiliate him? Or is this another one of Trump's bajillion lies?

The final House elections are tallied.
Democrat Adam Gray has defeated GOP Rep. John Duarte in a rematch in California’s 13th District in the Central Valley following weeks of ballot counting, NBC News projects, meaning Republicans won 220 House seats in the 2024 elections to Democrats’ 215. The GOP can lose just two votes on legislation in the House in the next Congress if Democrats all vote in opposition, giving them little wiggle room for absences, internal fighting and vacancies.
