Record setting fundraising day. Kamala's announcement brought in $26M in one day. Wow.

This is so disgusting.
Funding for the U.S. Postal Service and to shore up election infrastructure became a major sticking point in congressional talks on coronavirus relief, as President Donald Trump on Thursday vowed to block any money to facilitate mail-in voting.

Not just disgusting, though I'm not a lawyer I think this might actually be a violation of federal law.

I hope that it is being looked at, but at the speed of which Congress and the courts do anything in this country, it won't make a difference until it is far too late.

Another look at Trump's admitted election interference.
President Donald Trump appeared to admit he is attempting to undermine the U.S. Postal Service by blocking funding for the agency, which is expected to deal with a rush of mail-in ballots during this election season.

“Now they need that money in order to make the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” he said Thursday in an interview on Fox Business. “But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting.”

Agree, but will add a friendly amendment. The problem in this case isn’t Congress per se. Although over the years Democrats undoubtedly have been obstructionists on some issues, in the Trump years it’s been Republicans, who flee in the face of deranged Trump voters. Maybe behind the scenes some Republicans are working across the aisle with Democrats to strengthen voting by mail by funding the obvious, immediate needs of the USPS. But those Republicans are the exceptions, and there aren’t many at that.

In the face of Trump’s blatant attempt to steal the election, what do most Republicans in Congress, fake conservatives and fake constitutionalists, do? They cower, dissemble, lie, feign, and posture. But mostly they just hide.

Pennsylvania courts say the Trump campaign needs to put up or shut up.
A federal judge in Pennsylvania told the Trump campaign and the Republican Party that they must produce evidence they have of vote-by-mail fraud in the state by Friday.

The judge's order, in a high-profile case about vote-by-mail in the battleground state, essentially forces the Trump campaign to try to back up President Donald Trump's false claims about massive voter fraud in postal voting.

I have always thought Don Henley was a musical genius, but how could he have known?!? This is from 1989. And boy, does he nail it on Americans. This was also before reality TV.

Baby picks off your plate-yours looks better
And she throws hers on the floor
Here, in the home of the brave
And the land of the free
The first word that baby learns is "more"
So you're out there floating like a big, fuzzy cloud
With the pool and the charcoal
And the kids and the wife
'Til the reruns of your dreams are interrupted
And you step out into life
And it's still gimme, gimme what you got
Gimme, gimme what you got
Said, Gimme, gimme what you got
(I want it, I want it)
Gimme, gimme what you got
Now it's take and take and takeover, takeover
It's all take and never give
All these trumped up towers
They're just golden showers

Where are people supposed to live?
You can arm yourself, alarm yourself
But there's nowhere you can run
'Cause a man with a briefcase
Can steal more money
Than any man with a gun
I said gimme, gimme what you got
Said gimme, gimme what you got
Said, Gimme, gimme what you got
Gimme, gimme what you got
You got the price of admission-
You don't have to ask permission
To take somethin' from another man
You cross a lawyer with the godfather, baby
Make you an offer that you can't understand
From Main Street to Wall Street to Washington
From men to women to men
It's a nation of noses pressed up against the glass
They've seen it on the TV
And they want it pretty fast
You spend your whole life
Just pilin' it up there
You got stack and stacks and stacks
Then, Gabriel comes and taps you on the shoulder
But you don't see no hearses with luggage racks
Gimme, gimme what you got
I said gimme, gimme what you got
I said gimme, gimme what you got
(I want it, I want it)
Gimme, gimme what you got
Gimme that

Nice find. When you mentioned Don Henley I was thinking of this verse from End of the Innocence:

O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And they've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie

Biden is cementing his lead.
What appears to be key for Biden, though, is a consistently increasing number of voters who say they're "very strong in their support" of the former vice president, despite less-than-universal enthusiasm for the candidate. At the end of June, Trump led Biden 78 percent to 72 percent in the category, indicating more people were on the fence about the latter, but the two are now even at 82 percent.

Stopped by OY - I can't bash him there, but I will say here that JE is pretty insufferable. Not related to the rules he's tasked with reporting.

Convention from what I have read after the fact - won't/refuse to watch in real time - sounds good enough. Many people are saying it's better than in person, reduces all the down time, giving bloviating pundits less time to...bloviate in between speakers. The delegate section from each state, in their interesting backdrops (again, from reports) sounded nice/positive.

Oh, and Trump is a piece of shit traitor, who colluded with Russia during his campaign, and tasked his hand picked USPS puppet to dismantle the USPS to make it harder to vote by mail in a pandemic, and has had yet another if his cronies (Bannon) indicted and arrested because crimes and corruption.

There's a lot more where that come from but I gotta get steak kabobs on the grill.
