Give me some version of a red, white, and blue. Gray?
And the backs of them have a skinny black font that says "The United States of America." They almost look like those fake US t-shirts you see when traveling in some developing countries. I once saw an Ohio State t-shirt in blue and gold.

Arkie: Good call! They do remind me of Star Trek uni's.
Oh man, I love those jackets. I want one. They look to be perfect London-weather jackets, which also means they'd be good Seattle-weather gear too.

That said, I do think they're inappropriately plain for the medal stand.

Form follows function. I see five smiling faces and five shiny gold medals, which I think should be the focus on the medal stand.

I think the gray is a good contrast to the GOLD medals, too. Also, the gray goes very well with the purple ribbons on the GOLD medals and on the bouquets of flowers.

Also, blue and red are colors that are banned from most "uniform" schools because blue and red are the colors of gangs. Maybe that's why our women's gymnastics team isn't wearing blue or red. We wouldn't want to confuse them with gangs. **== :flags-usa: :occasion-olympics: :occasion-unclesam:

If blue is banned from most unis, then I am really puzzled. :duke:
All US athletes seem to be wearing the grays, not just the gymnasts.
Red and white unis were worn by Russia, and Red, blue, and yellow were worn by Romania.
Note that athletes not wearing medals are also wearing them. UK is sporting a blue and white number. Italy has so far sported navy blue. The Japanese men's gym winner wore navy.

Gray. Swoosh. Thin lettering. And in the wrong lighting, it approaches tar hole blue.

As it is August, wouldn't white have worked better?

I think banned meant banned from local (American) schools, not the Olympics.

Maybe we are wearing grey becasue everyone and their dog appears to be in blue or red.

We have white jackets and blue ones (the swimmers have worn them to the start line, and I the gymnasts had blue pants on during the team competition - don't recall the color of the jackets.

I love those jackets. I want one.

Yes, I meant banned from American schools that utilize uniforms.

I think the gray jackets match the gray skies of London. Look in the Olympic thread at the picture of Lauren Perdue with her GOLD medal. Her gray jacket matches the sky.

Also, Lauren has the most beautiful smile.

Walsh is a mother too, and just came off yet another surgery last year.
I will always root for a mother in these games (they'll always give us a shot if her with kid) going up against the young Turks. In tonight's case, they were up against Austria. I never root for Austria and Germany.
Unfortunately, none of the young Turks qualified. Despite our best (?) lobbying efforts, ipod-playing, chore-avoiding, and sibling-squabbling are not Olympic sports...

Someone wore a seersucker suit to a certain wedding we attended yesterday. It's November, dude. The acceptable dates are from about Memorial Day (some might say Easter) to Labor Day.

I need to move someplace where people wear suits.

Just to clarify: I didn't even notice the seersucker suit (and I was sitting at the same table with the guy) until DD came over and snarkily whispered it to me.
