VDB's response alerted me to this post, and I'm so happy I caught it before it fell away into LTE obscurity. I 100% share Miles' thoughts, except I've never felt I let anyone down. I felt that I was lucky enough to have family to trust me to find my own way. My rail has never been the fast track, but it's always been the track that felt right to me. If I were to get run over by a truck tomorrow, I would go out knowing that I might not have been rich and famous, but I feel at least I've had an impact on several other people's lives. In the long run, I think that's not a bad thing to say good night with. So for Sam, stand behind him, let him be what and who he wants to be. As a parent, it's the most powerful gift you can give him.Miles wrote:Character is formed in the most unexpected ways. I came no where near to meeting my potential in high school and I'm sure that I let a lot of people down. No matter where I turned, no matter what mistakes I made, my mother and father always stood behind me and gave me the love and support I needed to grow and learn from my mistakes. Keep showing that love and support and great things will happen.CathyCA wrote:I'm also pleased to announce that my son is finished with high school, and that he has enough points to graduate.
You all have no idea how close he came to not making it.

I laugh my ass off every time I hear the name of Obama's new intelligence guy. "Clapper".

Safe and successful travels to Cathy(backin)CA(forashorttime) and CB&B. We look forward to getting you back in the home state in a week or two. Definitely say hi to Sue for me while in Vegas.
Cathy, I knew girls in junior high who did their homework like you did. Drove me nucking futs. I was lucky when I finished it in study hall in time to turn it in at all.

Doing my homework like that in junior high and high school paid off for me in a big way. I should have kept up that trend in college.

Definitely coffee time! I'm working on improving my caffeine-to-blood ratio before heading out. My plan is to head for the MoBot with my camera (it opens at 7:30 on Saturday mornings) and then to the Tower Grove Farmer's Market. I'm going to take advantage of fresh fruits and veggies this year and fill my freezer. My vacuum sealer is out and working! I have rhubarb and asparagus in the freezer from my last trip. House cleaning will also be happening today.

Good morning. After I finish my coffee, get a few things done, then off to the the new Farmers Market in Efland. There are two in Hillsborough. I love Farmers Markets. In our garden, we are getting cabbage, squash and cukes are almost ready. I love this time of year.

As others have said, Sam will be okay. I too didn't live up to my potential in high school and college, but now, I live up to it everyday, well most days, and I love the life I have built up.
Everything happens for a reason, and everyone has their own path to follow. Hugs to you and Sam.

My buddy Scott takes home about $1,000 a month in profit from Vegas/Indian Res Casinos around San Diego. It's his second job. The boy has a knack for black jack and just seems to get all the breaks at the slots. Me? Not so lucky.TillyGalore wrote:I won $80 at the slots in McCarran.CathyCA wrote:I arrive at 12:45 and leave at 1:40. Re: LTE 2.0
I mowed the front and back, then cleaned out the shed. It sits on the low end of the property in the back, and has been sorely neglected throughout the years. About an inch of dirt had built up and with all the rain lately, that means there was an inch of mud so I pulled out everything, shoveled the mud out and then rearranged. Kelly was awesome and kept brining me water and some Propel. Now we're off to Chick-Fil-A to get our Free Spicy Chicken Sandwich.TillyGalore wrote:K68 just finished mowing mine. Re: LTE 2.0
Another great morning in St. Louis. I spent a couple of hours wandering around the botanical gardens, taking pictures. After that came a trip to the Tower Grove Farmers Market. I came back with fresh broccoli, cauliflower, peas, potatoes, cucumbers, yellow squash, zucchini squash, strawberries, and spinach. Ymmm ... fresh fruit and veggies.
