Idol last night: Casey must go, but I fear that Crystal is gone. Last night was a Lee Love Fest by all the judges.

I don't know. He seemed very pitchy to me. Casey offered little, but he's eye candy to at least one woman (Kara).

Casey is eye candy. He has personality. That's marketable.

I did not get Ellen's choice of song for Crystal, "Maybe I'm Amazed." I love this song--it is one of my favorites of all time--but it's not a song for a woman to sing. Consider the lyrics:

Baby, I'm a MAN, and maybe I'm a lonely MAN
who's in the middle of something
that HE doesn't really understand.
Babe, I'm a MAN and you're the only woman
who could ever help me.

etc.,

At the beginning of the season, I'd thought that this competition was Crystal's to lose. And I'm afraid that she lost it last night.

That song was used for a senior video at the MBB banquet. Do you remember whose video it was? I know it wasn't Jon's, he had the love theme from Pearl Harbor.

Eye candy, but what singing did Casey offer? And I just couldn't get into that judge's song selection. If Casey makes it to the finals, it will be all Lee. If Casey makes it to the finals, I would like to hear him do anything by Clapton (except I Shot the Sheriff).

Frankly, Sir Paul's original "Maybe I'm Amazed" has a number of voice cracks/screams in it... which you can get away with if you're Sir Paul. Crystal's voice held up well in those spots. But yeah, the lyrics threw me.

I was hoping all season that she would do Joni Mitchell, perhaps Both Sides Now, or something like that. If Ellen was going back to the McCartney song book, they could have just as easily gone to Joni, or maybe Ronstadt, or maybe even Tina Turner. Too bad Crystal already used up her allotment of Janis Joplin. Then again, maybe Crystal used up that allotment of songs last night by going with Melissa Etheridge's Come to My Window.

The pitch issues bother me with Lee, who really couldn't even hold the last note that well. And it wasn't just HALLELUJAH, but also in Simple Kind of Man. %-( Would love to hear him do Johnny Cash (Hurt or Folsom Prison Blues).

Yeah, I guess Crystal lost it last night, but it all depends on where Mike's fan base goes.

As for last night, I am thinking Casey might go tonight! Y'all raise good points on Crystal, but she did carry the song very nicely although the lyrics didn't quite fit! I also kind of felt like Simon was going to say she was suffering from the scream of one of your favorites that's no longer around %-( ! WRT to Johnny Cash, Lavabe, I am having a hard time visualizing that and I like Johnny! Coin toss tonight, it shall be interesting! :-s :-?

He won't be competing next week, but he'll be selling records and concert tickets within the next 6 months.

Yum!

Morning, all. ~O) Whole episode? The most I've ever seen is three seconds, the time it takes me to realize what it is at the beginning/end of another TiVo'd program and fast forward/quit. ;)

Has anyone else noticed that the pace of LTE 2.0 has slowed in recent weeks, maybe months?
The slow down seems to correlate to the increase of "Good Morning" posts and Idol reports.

I suggest a new strategy…
1. Let the Wookie win
2. Create an official "Good Morning" thread.
3. Create an Idol thread.

I have! Actually it has been about a month and 5 days... I thought it was ME (oh well ... guess not)! where did everyone go today... looking at the posts today ... no activity from 2 until about 6. Very strange! Must have been weather bug! Couldn't have been work, over CTN! I know I was on Teleconference after telleconference all day and actually had two on at the same time and 1 of my guys came in to have an impromptu meeting and not being able to multitask at the moment, buh bye 1 teleconference, check email, meet, make calls and the other telecon is over.. thank you GOD! ^:)^

I was in a very boring session of court for most of the afternoon. Actually, I've been working my rear end off for much of the week and haven't been on CTN. :hamster:

No funny stories from court, except for the guy who stole a Hurricane (boy, does that so not belong on the Ymm, Beer thread) and sunglasses on a break from doing his community service at the Salvation Army.

Hurricanes and sunglasses sounds like a Jimmy Buffett title....
