Heyward's run (as in, the play in which he tagged home plate) was incredible. He made a great play to beat a really fine play.
Best play of the night.

Also, PHILLIES LOST! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

By the way, some of the Mets really sucked last night. Oliver Perez? He was awful. :Boo:

Two Philly fans I know were crowing earlier today. "Just wait, September is our month!...."

Maybe, but hey Philly fans, you've been saying "just wait" since June.

Go Braves. We may not be pretty, but we're the real deal!

%&^#. They lost to the *&%#ing Pirates, the worst team in MLB this year. Where is that :hitler: video (jk)? Hanson didn't pitch badly, but, once again, they gave him next to no support. They got 8 H to the Pirates 4 and they had 3 BB, with 11 LOB in the process. Phils lost a make-up/PPD game to the Marlins but are winning the 2nd game, so the Braves lead may be down to 1/2 game by the end of the evening.

This year? I don't think you have to be that specific.

At this point, I must remind captmojo that Taunton IS already a part of Minehead (thinking of the Python sketch in which Hitler is running for mayor of Minehead, as part of the National Bocialist Party).

Hey... we may have a thread hijack in the works!!

Well, the god damn MIGHTY PIRATES of PITTSBURGH are gonna knock the Braves out of first place tonight. The fucking mighty PIRATES are about to take the first two games of a three game series against the fucked up Braves. Fuck this shit. FUCK IT! Stupid Braves! Pitchers have to throw a fucking shutout to get a win. Fuck this! FUCK!

It's cool though. We're still in the playoff pic...........awwwwwwwwwwww fuck it.

I apologize.

Look, it's "wait til next year" for the Braves, and that's cool (sort of). We have the hardest part of the equation (pitching). Now, during the offseason, just need to get a couple of good-great hitters - even if it means giving up a good pitcher.

Phillies will win this division by 4-5 games. Braves will fight for wildcard this year, but I like Atlanta's chances in the next five years or so.

Where is my post (was it in here or in a Poll) about the Phillies and the over-under on remaining losses at being 8?

Many thought I was nuts, but they are about to go 16-3 in September alone. Wow, they are GOOD.

But I DO want to know how that over/under thing is going. I can't seem to find it.

To all Phillies fans, I tip my cap. Wow. 16-3 in September. Doesn't get much stronger than that. And their fans are great. They totally deserve everything. Still though, once playoffs begin, all slates wiped clean. In a five game wild-card series, one error in the field can cost the whole series. I HATE the wildcard. At least make it a seven game series! You don't play 162 games to have your fate decided by the first game of a five game series!

When divisional playoffs first started, they were decided in a best-of-5.
The length of the series doesn't matter as much to me as does the games' starting times. They should be earlier so to allow for future youngest fans to be able to enjoy without risking proper bedtimes. I'd rather they went back to all day games and hookey play or radio sneaking rather than simply making a full bow to the almighty dollar.

But what about a day game (on the west coast) that starts off at nighttime on the east coast? What would you do about that? #-o

With apologies for tardiness, start early enough.

All a moot point (as of now), for the Braves. If only they had Duke 2010's heart. At a time where most all contenders are stepping up, the Braves are just rolling over and dying. You can see it in their play. Nobody's fired up. Careless errors. They just seem to have quit, and that seems to be rather fine by them.

Tim Hudson, though he did not pitch well last night, is one of the exceptions. He's "brought it" all year. Here's what he had to say about the Braves (couldn't agree more)...

“We’re not playing like a team that is hungry to get into the playoffs and that is hungry to get in the playoffs and win,” Hudson said. “We’ve got to come to the park with an attitude that’s hungry and is passionate about winning. From here on out, we’ve got to come with that kind of attitude. If not, we’re going to be packing our [expletive] and going home.”
