No more Jim Sumner coverage at DBR. The IDIOTS at SBN let him go because he asked for time off during football/basketball off season.

Jim’s coverage of press conferences was priceless.
Yup. Big loss OY.

Big loss is an understatement. Just an inexplicable decision.

College Football News preseason rankings:

https://collegefootballnews.com/2022/07 ... -131-teams

Duke checks in at #83. Season opener opponent Temple is the only opponent ranked lower with NC A&T not included in the rankings due to being FCS. CFN predicts a 2-10 record for Duke. Hopefully, we double up the wins to four…or more but my optimism isn’t high for these coming season. I’d set the wins over/under at 3.5. It is going to take Coach Elko two or three seasons to turn things around.

Yeah, I wanna see competitive fight and smarter play. Not expecting miracles in a single offseason.

I'm very confident that we have more than 2 wins. Four sounds right, 5 would be nice. Anything beyond that of course is gravy, but if it's 3 or less I'll admittedly be disappointed.
OPK mentioned "competitive", and I'm with that too. If we don't lose in blowouts, as has been the recent experience, I'll be enlightened to see those moral victories.

This is the time of year when I allow my optimism to get the best of me. Annual occurrence. I’m trying to keep it in check. The OL will be a strength with four returning starters and four graduate transfers. A lot can go right behind an effective OL. QB play is my number one concern on offense.

On defense, Coach Elko has a huge job in front of him. Duke was the worst defensive team in FBS last season. Nowhere to go but up.

Solid article from Steve Wiseman:

Nina King states Duke football is important to the other 26 sports Duke plays.

Fall Camp article with video coverage of Coach Elko speaking with the media. It is refreshing to hear energy from the head coach.

More video clips up at GoDuke.com. Interviews with Offensive Coordinator Kevin Johns and Defensive Coordinator Robb Smith:

Johns: https://goduke.com/watch/?Archive=12029&type=Archive
Smith: https://goduke.com/watch/?Archive=12030&type=Archive

Kevin Johns is impressive. He speaks straight forward with confidence.
