Oh... in that case, Cleves.

I think Henry held on until he was 56, and yes, Cleves outlived them all. Poor Catherine Parr, 35 and still attracted to bad boys. Not very smart in the 16th Century. So, I do know how old Catherine Parr was when she died. Cleves made it until the late 1550s but I don't know how old she was, probably under 50 given when she married Henry.

If you watch the X-Games you should know the significance of 540. I have no idea if this is a fakey or a backside grab.

If you watch 'Lost', it's also a number that gets mentioned - it's 5 X 108 but also the number of days a tour of duty in The Swan was supposed to last.

In the year 500, the Chinese mathematician Zu Chongzhi died. From Wikipedia:

"Mathematics
Most of Zu's great mathematical works, are recorded in his lost text Zhui Shu. Most scholars argue about his complexity. Since traditionally, the Chinese developed mathematics as algebraic, and equational. Logically, scholars assume that his work, Zhui Shu yields methods of cubic equations. His works on the accurate value of pi describes the lengthy calculations. Zu used the method of exhaustion, inscribing a 12,288-gon. Interestingly, Zu's value of pi is precise to 8 decimal places. No mathematician since his time, computed a value this precise until another 1000 years. Zu also worked on deducing the formula for the volume of the sphere."

I'm fewer than 100 posts behind CB&B. However, I suppose his lead will be back to triple digits by the end of the day, as there's no wireless in this archive. I find it absurd that any research library would lack wireless. A router costs $50, people!

Also, I probably won't be posting quite as much this evening as the past couple of nights...I'm meeting a friend at the Hunter/Gatherer Pub, Columbia's answer to the Brick Store. Will definitely post a review.
