Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
ESPN has their updated projections posted:
Prognosticator #1: Duke vs Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. This would be another good match-up for achieving a bump in recruiting. Coach Cutcliffe has a strong foundation in the Volunteer State.
Prognosticator #2: Duke vs Florida in the Belk Bowl. See my previous post, returning to Charlotte would not be a bad thing for recruiting.

I'm still feeling the Sun Bowl against a Pac-12 team such as USC, Utah or Washington; however, I readily admit the Music City or Belk Bowl would be better for future recruiting. Same goes for Taxslayer Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. My point is the ACC has to send a team to El Paso (middle of nowhere) and with our late season slump, I'm thinking it might be our turn in the barrel.

Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
Well Florida is 6-4, and unless they beat FSU, they'll be 6-5. I wouldn't mind making them 6-6, and waving goodbye one last time to Kurt Roper (assuming he sticks around for the bowl game), but I'm not sure the Belk Bowl people will be all that thrilled by a crappy Gator team. Different story if they beat FSU...but then that changes just about everything with the ACC bowl picture.Bob Green wrote:ESPN has their updated projections posted:

Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
Jerry Palm (CBS Sports) has us in the Pinstripe Bowl versus 6-6 Penn State. If this happens, I'm okay with it for two reasons:
1. Bowl games are a reward for current players and a game against Penn State is very winnable. It would be great to see this senior class go out on top.
2. Bowl games can provide a recruiting bump. A win over Penn State could influence some Pennsylvania/New York/New Jersey recruits to head to Duke. For starters, 2016 4* Pennsylvania QB recruit Brandon McIlwain (Pennsylvania).
I'm sticking to my Sun Bowl prediction for now.

Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
I agree. I think we will be playing Utah in the Sun Bowl. I would love for us to be playing on the east coast, but the only thing I really care about is this team finally winning a bowl game. A matchup with Utah would be fun and a very competitive game. I like our chances against Florida or Penn State much better.Bob Green wrote:Jerry Palm (CBS Sports) has us in the Pinstripe Bowl versus 6-6 Penn State. Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
(Un)fortunately, the Pinstripe and Sun Bowls are out for me as I'm working the weekend after Christmas. We'd go to either the Belk or Music City Bowls or even the Tax Slayer (Gator?) Bowl, if we got the possible ACC slot there.CameronBornAndBred wrote:The Belk bowl is the only one that I will be able to go to.DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:Phil has changed his prediction now to Duke vs Tennessee (gee) still in the Belk Bowl Acc vs SecDevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:Phil Steele (Football guru) has Duke going to the Belk Bowl playing LSU .

Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
I was attending a Duke Function on Monday evening, and was asking about the Bowl game! I asked if we would be returning to the Belk Bowl..... And I was told NO. I could go to the Belk Bowl again, with my schedule.
The Sun Bowl was tossed out as to probably where Duke would play.
We could have more attendance at the Belk Bowl, with all the Players from that area and their family, friends and easy to travel to, also.

Re: Bowl Discussion/ACC Power Rankings
Big shakeup in the polls last night most likely rule Duke out of the Sun Bowl!
Because Michigan State jumped Mississippi State, the ACC will most likely get the Citrus Bowl slot. This is very important because if that happens then Clemson will take the Citrus Bowl slot.
All of this information is very confusing, but basically if FSU beats GT and Alabama beats Mizzou, then Duke will either go to the Russell Athletic Bowl or the Pinstripe Bowl. Both of those would be great and avoiding the Sun Bowl would be very nice.

Most people are expecting Duke to the Pinstripe Bowl if FSU wins tonight.

Several people have advised me to fly, but if looks like it is $400 or so for the round trip. So, yes I'll be driving. It is about 7-8 hours from here.

Are there speed limits in Texas? ;)YmoBeThere wrote:Several people have advised me to fly, but if looks like it is $400 or so for the round trip. So, yes I'll be driving. It is about 7-8 hours from here.
That's about the distance we drove last year from Raleigh to Atlanta for the CFA Bowl. Cheer extra loud for the CTN gang who can't make the 25 hour drive or $700 plane fare.

The difference is that this drive is through a lot of nothingness. I mean a lot of nothingness. More cows than people kind of territory. Will do on the last part.devildeac wrote:Are there speed limits in Texas? ;)YmoBeThere wrote:Several people have advised me to fly, but if looks like it is $400 or so for the round trip. I'll be looking for you in the crowd. I'm working that weekend or we might have found some way for it to work. Hope Duke gets a nice contingent from Texas, NM, Arizona, Colorado to attend. Hell, southern California is even closer than we are and we must have a bunch of alums who could make that 10-12 hour drive.YmoBeThere wrote:The difference is that this drive is through a lot of nothingness.
