I tune in every morning waiting to hear that he has opened his eyes and knows everybody and that all his parts are working. The longer the wait, the more worrisome this gets.

If you read the eye witness report, It's going to be a long while before that happens. If it happens. He's very lucky one of his friends was a nursing student and performed CPR 3 times before the paramedics arrived. And from the descriptions given...

I do also. And then Usher's stepson is Brain Dead from a jet ski accident.

Jet skis are dangerous!!!! I understand the new jet skis can go 70mph, and of course do not have brakes.

Watzone has published this updated statement from Blair's family

The link worked when I read it, but seems to be broken or taken down now. I'll put it back up when it reappears.

While it is a statement of thanks, it does not address his medical or physical condition. We can only hope that he is making slow, steady progress that is to be measured in days or weeks.

The N&O has an article that addresses a little of both. :wizard: :wizard:

Here's the statement from Blair's parents.
"Our family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to everyone who has provided thoughts and prayers on Blair’s behalf over the last week. We have been overcome with the extended love and support.

“We cannot express our heartfelt appreciation enough for Duke University and the Duke Football family during this time of uncertainty. Coach David Cutcliffe, coach Matt Lubick, coach Kurt Roper, Stan Wilcox, Hap Zarzour and so many others have been with us every step of the way, often times going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our comfort and well-being. We are so proud to be a part of this team that also includes Blair’s teammates and their parents, who have been so generous with their care and support.

"We would like to thank our extended family who have loved, mentored, and supported Blair both through the years and especially now when he needs them the most: The Buckley School, Oaks Christian School and AIM High Basketball. We also wish to thank Blair's personal physician -- Dr. Janesri DeSilva -- who has provided valuable guidance and tremendous comfort to our family.

“The doctors, nurses and support staff here at UNC Hospitals have been nothing short of wonderful. We are so thankful for their commitment, dedication and professionalism.

“We firmly believe in the power of prayer, and are confident that everyone’s efforts have made a positive impact on Blair. As we continue focusing our energy towards Blair and our family, we also would like to thank everyone for respecting our privacy as it pertains to his condition.”

My former brother-in-law suffered a brain injury while an undergraduate at Duke... passenger on a motorcycle and not wearing a helmet (before the aw required them). The coma was not medically induced, however. Recovery was very slow. It appeared that each case of brain injury had its own path to healing and recovery. Small steps seemed to take time to build up a trend of any sort. As long as Blair is in a medically induced coma, the news announcements are likely to be few and far between.

In one article on the N&O this morning (in section B, page 1) it said that Blair opened his eyes on Monday! I have not seen that anywhere else, and surely that would have been reported and touted as great progress.

Holliday sustained severe head injuries and remains in critical condition at the UNC Hospitals Trauma Center, though he opened his eyes Monday.

I wake up every morning, pour a cup of coffee, and check for any news with my fingers crossed. This is the morning I've been waiting for. My thanks to Nolan and this watchful chain of communication.

DukeRah's most recent surgery experience was at UNC. We were grateful for their caring, first class care. No doubt Holliday and his family are getting the same good attention. Bless their hearts and I ain't kiddin'.

Continued prayers for Blair and the Holliday family. I know he is getting good medical treatment at Unc hospital.

Please the nursing student, that was there at the lake that gave CPR 3 times to Blair, and saved him.
