If the spray shoots from 27 feet, shouldn't I (or the lucky person who gets to do this for me) be able to stand on the ground and shoot the spray at the nest?

11pm report coming out in a few minutes. Right now it's still expected to skirt the coast as a cat 3.

It would be one helluva commute, but you've always got a place to stay in Charlotte.

Just woke up, and looked at the projected path...not looking good. They have once again shifted west and it comes ashore around Morehead. I'm spending the day packing up.

I don't think I'd put a lot of trust in that 27 ft distance stuff. From that distance, you'd better have an experienced notion of the spray's arc of travel to be accurate and on target.
20? Maybe so. I'd be more safe to say, about 15. If you can hit it from within 20, outside the window should that be nearest, the window...with it's closing ability to as to keep away from missed critters, could be the best option. At the right time of day, missing the nest won't be too alarming to them. They'll stay close to home. These cans have a lot of pressure behind the spray (they will empty pretty fast) and I suggest that you get at least 2 cans (it's cheap at Lowe's) so that if you aren't a good shot, you have a backup can ready. I keep it in stock all year. It works very well on icky spiders too!

I'm waiting until after Irene visits to get rid of the nest. I'm hoping and praying that there is a chance that the wind and rain will do the trick.
