CB&B, you have to do as she says. It's her birthday. :ymparty:
=)) =)) =))
Going to Fisherman's Wharf for clam chowder is always near the top of my to-do list when I got to San Francisco. It's a cheap (and very filling) meal. Chocolate is just a moral imperative.

We saw lots of people enjoying the sourdough soupbowls, but my taste challenged family opted for burgers. Sigh.

It's a tourist trap.

CB&B, did you guys see BushMan when you were walking down The Embarcadero today?

You'll have to work on that. I was that way when I was younger but have developed more of a "when in Rome" approach to my road trips. It's way more fun that way. You can get a burger anywhere, but I don't think that the chowder bowls are as good anywhere else.

CB&B-if you read this in the next day or so, PM me and perhaps you can get together with my son who is in SF now at a conference.

The second wooden boats picture there in front of Alioto's Restaurant on the Embarcardero is where BushMan hangs out. I hope you guys will see him. He's fun.

Your pictures are wonderful. I'd never noticed all of the yellow on the Cable Cars. I thought of them as mostly that rusty red color.

Don't you just LOVE San Francisco? It is the world's most beautiful city.

Ahhhhhh! Thanks for the vid, NOW I know who you are talking about. My dad had told me about he and my stepmom's experiences with him. We have not seen him however.

Take lots of pictures of that sunset.

I killed my family today. We walked over 4 miles, and being San Francisco, it was not a flat hike. The kids wanted to go to Chinatown, so we headed out, and since we crossed Lombard street, I said I wanted to walk the winding part of it. So off we went, in the wrong direction. I read the map backwards, so we went up Telegraph Hill, which was a pretty tough climb, escpecially for my wife. Once we got up there, we were only a few blocks away from Chinatown, so we grabbed a bite at a great little cafe, the Brioche Bakery.

After eating, we did lots of shopping in the chinese shops. Saw a few places that I was glad we would not have to rely upon for food.

Had lots of fun there, and we checked out the cable car museum, which was fun. One more excruciating hike up another hill, we worked our way over to the winding part of Lombard.

At least it was all downhill from there. To end, we made our way back to the waterfront and went to the chocolate store. My wife bought some chocolate covered strawberries, and it was back to the hotel for some very deserved naps.

Looks like a great trip. The pictures are fantastic.

I think the drive into SF on 101 from Marin County is one of coolest and most beautiful drives on earth. It's incredible when you go around that last hill and the Golden Gate bridge and the cityscape are right there.

All this talk about SF is reminding me of one of my favorite movies, Vertigo.

CB&B, sounds like ya'll are having fun. Thank you for posting about your adventure.

Off to Yosemite today, then back tomorrow. Staying in the Napa area tomorrow night. Lots of driving, but when you haven't seen where you are driving before, it's not bad.
