As important as the running the ball is to winning, I think The Football Fan has identified a change of paradigm in the strategy for winning. ;)

Running the ball is important, especially in the red zone, a part of the game strategy where we haven't maximized our resources to score as often as we need to.

I love having a much better offensive line :x .... same part of the offense which was a chronic source of problems for many years.

Can't wait for the football season to start! :happy-bouncyblue:

It is pretty obvious Duke will be a pass first offense for the foreseeable future and that isn't bad as long as we are able to successfully run the ball across a multitude of scenarios such as on first down, on 3rd and short, in the red zone, in the 4th quarter to burn clock and protect a lead, etc.. Debating the "run to set up the pass" versus "pass to set up the run" approach isn't productive as Duke will be a pass oriented offense. I believe in the run first philosophy, but will bow down in submission to the pass first heretics ^:)^

If the offensive line has really improved (and I believe it has), Duke could be one of the top offensive teams in the ACC. I read an interesting post or email the other day that theorized the biggest improvement on the offensive line will be at the center position because as good as Bryan Morgan was he was undersized and therefore not an effective run blocker. With the bigger Brian Moore moving over to center, our line will automatically improve. Interesting theory so we will see come September.

I second your opinion a thousand times.
