YAY!!!!
Surprising Wojo over Collins though. I want to see both of them move on, I like watching the tree grow.
After further consideration, they can't have him. The midget market on big man coaches is just too short right now. :D

My brother sent me an article this morning, from the AR Democrat-Gazette, which stated that the Razorbacks were VERY close to signing Tubby Smith as their next head coach. Not sure how true it is after seeing this: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6217992
Gillespie interviewed at Texas Tech recently:

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt interviewed former Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie in Florida on Wednesday.

Red Raiders spokesman Blayne Beal said Hocutt, who took over the program this month, met with Gillispie in Palm Beach.

No announcement on who will succeed Pat Knight will be made until next week, Beal said. Gillispie, who also coached at Texas El-Paso and Texas A&M, was fired at Kentucky in 2009 after two tumultuous seasons.

And again, I say, :-o :twitch: . How is anyone considering hiring Billy Gillispie, after what happened at Kentucky? I shouldn't be too surprised, though; Jim Harrick was hired at multiple schools, too.

Bye Bruce.

Sources told ESPN.com that Pearl was informed of his dismissal on Monday, and all that remains is the finalization of a financial package for Pearl and his assistants.
Will State or GT come calling?

As an aside to this story, I've heard some rumors that Tennessee may ask to speak with Collins. Could just be people on the internet talking though.

And Pearl would likely do well in the ACC - he's certainly got the attitude. I just wonder if State or GT may not want a freshly-fired (for rules violations) coach - or if he'll get a show-cause slapped on him by the NCAA. :twocents:

I can't see any way that Debbie Yow would invite Pearl's smarminess into Raleigh. Radakovich at Tech would perhaps be more receptive, but I think restive alumni there would likewise scuttle Pearl's chances. I think it's much more likely that we see him on TV for a year or two (I actually think his personality would be great for that, and his Xs and Os are unquestionably sound), and then he eases back into coaching in somewhere like Conference USA (unless he gets lucky and falls into a situation like the recent Gillispie to Texas Tech move).

Pearl will end up doing TV for a season or two before getting another coaching gig. I cannot see a reputable program hiring him for next year after the dark cloud he has developed over his career right now.

I really hope State goes young and hungry, i.e. K, Valvano, Brownell, Brad Stevens. I bet that Yow will handle it much better than Fowler did last time, that was a disaster.

This is now a done deal.

Also, the Sean Miller rumors are flying around like locusts!!! He didn't help yesterday in his quote <sic>"I'm the Arizona coach...for now"

Don't include Coach K in the list of coaches changing jobs

Krzyzewski said Wednesday his answer would be the same if the Lakers, who could be in the market for a head coach if Jackson goes through with his plan to retire after the season, decided to call him again.
