March 26 is the correct date for the Spring Scrimmage. It's mentioned in this article about spring practice. Start time has not been announced, but it's usually 1P. http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml? ... EM_ID=4200

There is also a note about season tickets being on sale. Those who bought their tickets earlier in the month did pay last year's prices. Current prices show a bit of an increase in various categories.

Here is a Conner Vernon interview:

He talks about hitting the weight room to get bigger, stronger and faster.

Just announced today, the start time for the Spring Scrimmage will be 3P.... good choice for many reasons.

Here is an article on a recent scrimmage:

http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml? ... EM_ID=4200

Is Josh Snead healthy? He is noticeably absent from the write-up, which discusses Duke's success running the ball.

hmmm....good point. I don't remember hearing anything on Donovan Varner either. I wonder if they played. I seem to remember Josh had a shoulder injury. Perhaps he was one of the players with an off season surgery. Maybe they want to make sure he is fully healed for the start of next season.

Speaking of the running backs, I think Kurunwune ate his Wheaties with 5 hour energy instead of the usual milk. @-) If it was Desmond Scott, Thompson, or Snead getting those numbers, I'd feel more confident it's the evolution of the player and offensive line, but with Kurunwune I'm wondering if it's more a porous D-Line. :-ss

That's not meant to be a knock on Kurunwune; I just don't think anyone other than perhaps the coaches or maybe some players would've seen that performance coming.

I'll ask my football manager source for a little info the next day or two. ;)

Kelby Brown is the only significant injury/surgery that I know but several DL and LB were out with various minor injuries for the 1st scrimmage.

Are any eyewitness reports forthcoming on the Spring Game? Coach Cutcliffe had some kind words for redshirt freshman QB Anthony Boone:

I would love to hear impressions from those of you who were in attendance.

I think we spent more time chatting/socializing and trying to stay warm (cloudy and 45 degrees) than we did watching FB :ymblushing: . Josh Snead had a couple nice runs and Sean looked good. Connette has improved. Tyree Watkins should replace Kelly nicely and our back-up PK missed about a 45 yard FG by at least 10 yds :( . Maybe Oz can add a few things.

Any insights on the defensive side of the ball? Can our defensive backfield cover my Mom and her walker?

It may be a little early to make a clear determination though I think we'll see some good results because of Coach Petri being there to mentor and groom. He's already brought in his first recruit for 2011.....a commit on Saturday... http://bluedevilnation.net/2011/03/duke ... n-jackson/. :happy-bouncyblue:

I hear she gets good separation from the line of scrimmage with that walker. I think they've got her covered, but if she gets one of them motorized wheel chairs, all bets are off...especially if it's got one of those wire baskets in the front.

I dunno, Mom is pretty feisty for being almost 80....

Is that her age or her 40 yard dash time? 8-|

Both, I think. (She'll be 80 in May. I haven't timed her 40 recently!)
