I still think it's far more interesting to speculate about how the astronauts went to the bathroom without the privacy of a door and a bathroom fan.
Not at all. When we have no sun we can have plenty of moonshine and can take photos. Similarly, on the moon, if the sun is down and you get earthshine, it could be quite bright.
The shine--whether earthshine or moonshine--came from the sun.
The "came from the sun" part is what is debatable by moon landing skeptics. They argue the photos were lit by spotlights....electricity. If taken in a studio, one would not need the sun to light the objects. So why didn't one astronaut say, "Hey, cool! Look! I can capture a photo of the Earth and the Sun in the same shot! This will make a great picture!"
See, as much as I, one who has never phisically been beyond the bounds of Earth, think the Earth and moon horizon shots are freakin' awesome; if I were on the moon, I'd want to capture a photo of the Earth in relation to our sun. That would be cool. So NOBODY at NASA thought that this would make a great shot?

And in other conspiracy news... Hayward still keeps missing that shot!

Camera pointed at sun = useless paperweight that was once a camera
The filter you would need to be able to shoot the sun would probably make the earth invisible.
Doesn't matter if they thought it was cool - it wasn't possible.
All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Also, I'm quite sure they never imagined that decades later there would be a bunch of conspiracy kooks on the internet arguing about whether they actually went, so nobody tried to devise a way to photograph the sun (and face it, even if they had, the kooks would still find a way to deny the truth of *that*).
BTW, in relation to the various "hoax" theories, Mythbusters did an excellent show a few years ago testing them, and
busted every one. If you have Netflix, you can watch the full episode online; it's on the Collection 4 disc.

In case you were interested. This was just posted today or yesterday. I haven't watched it yet, but I hope that there's a clip of Buzz Aldrin in back saying "Humph! Back in my day we did it the hard way...."
