Twenty-five years ago, Villanova pulled the biggest upset in college basketball history when Rollie Massimino's team stunned mighty Georgetown in the NCAA championship. Today, the Wildcats narrowly avoided being on the other side of a tournament stunner. They can thank the referees for helping them do so.

That is great (or sad) to read. Shame the outcome can't be overturned. At least someone else now has an article written about them "getting all the calls."

And Georgetown! I curse you!

First, you defeat my beloved Blue Devils in the regular season. Today, you lost to a 14 seed!

I hate you for beating my team!

I hate you for messing up my brackets!

After all the hype about the strength of the Big East, it's interesting to note that many of the upset victims are Big East teams. Of the teams that played today, only Villanova advanced - and by all accounts they shouldn't have. NIT is showing a similar trend (UConn won but should've lost, other Big East teams lost). It will be interesting to see if the talking heads pick up on this.

Weak Forest provides an interesting match-up with ky as they have a speedy point guard, a talented forward and some size and goonery with mcfartland possibly providing the tinder for a cousins meltdown and explosion on the court. Nah, what am I thinking? This is the same team with gaudio as the coach who "shit the bed" at home against the 'holes*. I think the probabtion-bound 'cats by double digits in this one.

The Big East was 1-3 on the day, and Villanova needed a lot of help to pull their win off.

For those that watched it, how bad was the reffing really? All they're talking about on ESPN and on the radio this morning is how jobbed RMU got. Doug Gottlieb was saying that if those refs get scored high enough to do a single game more in this tournament, then there's something wrong with the official grading system or the graders. Was it THAT bad?

The good news is that KARL HESS is calling games in the NIT. Surely they can't have him calling games in the NCAA as well, right? :-o

And DON'T call me Shirley! ;)

I won't call you Shirley. But if you be Frank with me, I'll be Ernest with you.

Don't know if it's the refs or WV finally waking up, but WV is leading.

No idea why, but I picked them in both brackets. I distinctly remember thinking "I don't know who they are playing, but they will lose"....must have been wearing my ACC tinted glasses.

I picked them in my espn bracket. I figured they were due for a win. At least I didn't go overboard and have WVU going to the sweet 16

Cal is up 26-10 against Louisville. Despite the score, I think I'd still rather face Cal.

Yea, any team that "features" Boykin can't be that good.
