Between games (Wednesday and Friday) in Madison Square Garden? No, I don't think I want the guys getting quite that full on a VDB Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. I want them lean and mean, a real shooting machine!

Mercifully, to stay put, for the first time ever.
Shalay and I have spent exactly one TG together before. This is our 13th.

That's cool..it's great to not have to go anywhere. We did both TG and Christmas at home last year, and loved it. This year, not so lucky..gotta make mom happy 6 hours away for Christmas.

UncleBill, the boys, and I will be heading down to Northern VA to my mom's. I'm also making plans to get together with a friend and her kids some time during the weekend , so we don't have TOO much family togetherness.

I'm cooking dinner at Mom and Dad's and will be joined by my mother's mother, and Kelly!
Kelly is making French Onion Soup and ranch oyster crackers for our late morning/pre-dinner meal.
I'm doing...
- Maple-brined turkey, stuffed with fall aromatics and a bourbon gravy.
- Sausage stuffing
- Green beans with caramelized onions
- Honey-glazed baby carrots
- Garlic mashed potatoes
- Mashed sweet potatoes in orange cups
- Yeasty rolls
Turkey stock goes on the stove tonight; I'll have about 1.5 - 2.5 gallons on Thursday.
Brining begins later afternoon on Wednesday.
I. AM. SO. EXCITED.

Thanksgiving
6:45am - Get up, put on running clothes
6:50am - Eat a light breakfast
7:00am - Drag the Odds (number 1 and number 3 sons) out of bed
7:10am - Drive to Somerville
7:45ish - Pick up race number
8:00am - 9:15am - Hang around
9:20am - Give extra clothes, car keys, etc to the Odds to hold
9:30am - Race start time, the 14th(?) annual Gobble, Gobble, Gobble 4-mile race
10:10am - Finish race (if I'm lucky, it will probably take me a couple of minutes to even get to the starting line and if I manage to run it in less than 40 minutes, I will be
![Applause :ymapplause:](./images/smilies/41.gif)
)
10:30am - Drive back to Newton
11:00am - Commence Thanksgiving Day cooking extravaganza. BD's motto: Thanksgiving, the one day of the year where I prove it's not that I can't cook, it's that I don't
Menu
Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Senator Russell's sweet potatoes
Cranberry sauce
Cornbread
Broccoli (that's what the boys want)
Dinner rolls
Pumpkin pie
some kind of dessert that the kids will eat, maybe cake, maybe cookies
The boys have to pick three items (not counting dessert and gravy) that they will eat without complaining. Yes, I have to negotiate Thanksgiving dinner with them. No, I don't know what is the matter with my children.
6pm or so - Eat
8pm - Collapse on the couch to watch sports. Mr. BD gets to clean up.

There is nothing wrong with them. Sounds like your average boy(s) to me.

Unless you also have to negotiate with Mr. BD.
Have fun running!

I hear you Ima. This year for me is somewhat different. I will be doing nothing. One armed people are not as productive as the two handed ones. DukePA and younger sister are helping alot. Bud is cooking the turkey & making the dressing and gravey. Some of the people are bringing a ham, ice tea and pumpkin pies. Stevo is bringing oysters for steaming and roasting.
I hope you, Dan and Sarah have a great day. Love, Nancy
