Yea, it takes months to heal, and I'll be wearing open-toed shoes until then, i.e. Crocs with the toes cut out.CathyCA wrote:I suppose you won't be wearing pretty shoes any time soon. . .bjornolf wrote: Very funny. ;) Probably could use one.
I don't seem to have BD's excellent toe nail genes. Mine don't grow back right if I lose one through trauma. Mine grow straight into the nail bed instead of "over the hump", so to speak. When I was playing football at Duke, I got my right toe nail ripped out by a cleat. We tried to let it regrow three times, and it was just a lot of pain and agony for nothing. Ended up having to have it permanently removed a few years later.
A few months ago, I slipped and fell, my big toe on the other foot slamming into the concrete lip of my garage with all my weight behind it. Then, just as it was recovering, my middle son stomped on it, making it fall out. It tried to regrow into the nail bed again, so instead of going through all the trouble for nothing again, I had them rip it out and cauterize it. So, that's what they did today. Ripped my toe nail out and then poured acid all over it to keep it from growing back. It'll take months to heal. Fun, huh? And, yes, it'll definitely hurt. The worst part of the actual procedure itself is the numbing stage. He poured some kind of freezing agent all over it to numb it up before shooting it full of novacaine. Problem is that before it deadens the toe, it gives you the most horrible painful toe cramps you can imagine. Now I just wait for the novacaine to wear off so the other pain can start. ;)

Kind of a bizarre day:
bjornolf has wicked painful toes
wilson is out of town
devildeac is back from skiing/attending a medical conference
katie'as home
still no word as to whether bostondevil is running the marathon
AND
it's spring forward this weekend.

I thought BD stated that last year's would be her last, especially since she actually posted a time.Lavabe wrote:Kind of a bizarre day:

Um, I like Crocs. They're not very pretty, but they're so cool looking and wonderful feeling. It's like walking on a cloud.bjornolf wrote:Yea, it takes months to heal, and I'll be wearing open-toed shoes until then, i.e. Crocs with the toes cut out.CathyCA wrote:I suppose you won't be wearing pretty shoes any time soon. . .bjornolf wrote: Very funny. ;) Probably could use one.

You could lose it tonight, so long as you remember to account for the hour tomorrow.CameronBornAndBred wrote:yup...cl15876 wrote:when do we lose an hour, tomorrow night?
