“HERE IS THE TRUTH”
“Trump's supporters don't measure his success by what he does FOR them, they measure by what he does AGAINST people they don't like. That's why they see him as being "successful." This is why they will NEVER abandon him.
His tormenting of the "others" sustains them.”

For some, “owning the Libs” is a goal onto itself.
Despite the cost they and their families pay. Heartbreaking
Yup. Sometimes seeing your “enemies” suffer is a stronger pull than seeing your own personal benefits improve.

(I’m sure there’s a sports metaphor in there too in the “Duke win v. UNC loss” calculation).

The Manhattan grand jury examining Donald Trump’s alleged role in a hush money payment to a porn star isn’t expected to hear evidence in the case for the next month largely due to a previously scheduled hiatus, according to a person familiar with the proceedings.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/manhattan-tr ... 29996.html

I'm thinking that case's goose is cooked. It went from immediate looming indictment (so much so that Trump himself was in extra freak out mode) to "we're gonna take a vacation now". I can't imagine that Jack Smith is too disappointed. I guess it's even possible he's had some sway here.

But still, not a good look for the Manhattan DA, even to the point of embarrassing, and now Trump has another reason to cheer on his supporters.

Boom?

First shoe drops per NYT and NBC — indictment returned in NYC Stormy Daniels case. FWIW.

A Manhattan grand jury on Thursday indicted former Pres. Donald Trump for allegedly falsifying business records to cover up an alleged “hush money payment” to porn actress Stormy Daniels, the first time in U.S. history that a former president – or a presidential candidate, for that matter – has been criminally indicted.

New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office filed the indictment under seal and is likely to be announced in the coming days, according to the New York Times, which cited four people with knowledge.

I'm happy to be wrong. I thought this case was toast.

Well, you CAN indict a ham sandwich — even on toast.

Watch the press on both sides start declaring how strong or weak the case is, despite NO ONE seeing the indictment or knowing all of the evidence that was presented; mark those people as “not necessarily reliable” sources.

C’mon Fani, you’re up next. Curious to see if the Georgia judge’s not-so-subtle setting of a response date to Trump’s motion to dismiss for May 1 — the day after the end of the current grand jury’s term — forces an indictment before the end of April.

They’re was just enough battery life in the bullhorn for Stephen to announce from the front porch:

“The Cheeto Mussolini has been indicted. I repeat. The Cheeto Mussolini has been indicted.”

Just announced that Trump is being booked Tuesday morning. I have a doctor's appointment a block from Trump Tower at 9 am Tuesday. Then I will be heading to my office not too far from (but not too close to) the courthouse. Hope I don't get caught in the circus.

Seems like they played this pretty well - kept him off guard. I agree that hopefully this is some motivation to accelerate some of the other cases.

It sounds like a pretty big deal of an indictment. Like you, at first I thought, "Eh?" But 30+ counts is a lot. Maybe there really is something they think they can prove in there. Of course, the many-count indictment can also give a jury a way out: Convict him, but only on the little stuff. It could make them feel like they've done something, even though they let the big stuff go. It's so hard to predict this stuff, especially given how little information we actually have at this point.

Each check Trump wrote to Cohen (11 or so IIRC) is probably indicted as a separate offense, but if convicted will not equate to more of a punishment. That is often done as garnishment or showmanship from the DA more than anything because they are each a single act in furtherance of a single criminal objective. Allegedly here, of course.

We should know more Tuesday, if Trump surrenders as reported. The indictment will be unsealed at the arraignment.

I applaud DJT for going on the offensive this morning and attacking the judge who will be presiding over his case. It’s a boss move to do it pre-indictment! You gotta show the judge that YOU are in control in his courtroom; that YOU make the rules; and that he answers to YOU and not vice versa. Trump should laugh at any so-called “gag order” the judge might impose, and instead continue to brazenly characterize the judge as crooked or maybe even not so smart. Game respects game.

Throwing in attacks on the fairness of the jury pool in NYC is such a beautiful pro move too. Dude is an f’n artist.

Can’t wait to send him $25 to help pay for the lawyers whose advice he’ll ignore!
