I had a hearing this morning, which I am happy to say that I won. Of course, it was a statutorily required hearing, and I knew how it was going to turn out, but I still had to prep my clients and debrief them following their appearance in court.

Therefore, I didn't have the time to check in on the "Good morning" thread.

There's a full moon quality to the Varnish Zone today. I have had two absolute nuts call for me today, one wanting to talk about straightening out her "estate" (usually people don't have an estate until they are dead) and one this afternoon who told the secretary to tell me it was "one of my girlfriends." When asked what the call was in reference to, she said, "oh, honey, you tell her I'm just wantin' to talk about me, me, me."

I have no idea who she is.

Oops! Missed saying good morning. So good morfternoon! Going to see 0-dark thirty later today.

Good Morthernoon. I have nothing planned today.

I spent most of the entire weekend in the office getting ready for a two day trial. This morning I got an email from the family court coordinator telling me that the attorney on the other side of the case has the flu.

I will not get that weekend spent in the office back.

On a positive note, I will not catch the flu from this attorney, and this just gives me MORE time to get my exhibits, witnesses and argument together to kick his client's butt to Pluto and back.

Also, this is the same attorney who told the judge that I hadn't given a correct Notice of Hearing.

Several days later, I got a very humble written apology from this attorney telling me that he was mistaken.

Um, no.

Interestingly, he has offered to settle all matters at mediation next month. We'll see how that goes.
