50 laps to go:
It's ALL Jeff Gordon, followed by Blech, Harvick, Smoke, JJ, NewmaN, Kurt, kk, Dinger, Menard, Hamlin, MM, Kenseth, BradKes, Truex

MM with an incredible save.

All I've got is Kahne left. Everyone else is out. I switched out Edwards for Kurt Busch after qualifying and I'm now regretting it.

I don't understand how to strategically pick my drivers where there is so much random chance involved in these races.

I don't think RANDOM is the correct word.
1) JJ, JG, Harvick, and Blech have demonstrated a clear history in succeeding in this race.
2) The JG, JJ, Jr, MM team (Hendrick) have a solid history of doing well in these races.

So then the object is hoping that you've picked drivers who can avoid traffic issues (on a one-mile track).

As for me, I went with Hamlin, because he does well on smaller tracks.

25 laps to go: Caution
Most folks just did green flag pit stops.
Smoke in the lead, followed by Blech, JG, JJ, Newman, Harvick, MM, KK, Jr, Kurt.
BUT... Jr doesnt have fresh tires.

Truex is lucky dog in 14th.
Getting back to the RANDOM issue: RANDOM is usually the word we use for Talladega and Daytona (restrictor plate races). IIRC, 'dega is the giant roulette wheel.

There is still a large amount of randomness involved...

Ok, Hendrick has won 6 of the last 8. But for the longest time, DEI, used to dominate restrictor plate races.

Talladega is a complete cluster-fuck each and every time they race there. Throwing darts at a board gives you as good a chance of selecting winning drivers as does attempting to analyze the stats.

I really sucked this week. Oh well, it will take 3-4 races to round into form.

Thanks. A very important lesson I learned..... when checking the points result, dont check too early.
Yesterday I only saw 1 point for me, yet I picked KB (aka Blech Busch) and he ended in the top 5.
But alas, I checked again this morning after and voila..... I gots some major pointage and vaulted to first position this week.
Just keeping warm for Lavabe and when Colchar catches back up, for his eventual take back of the position.
Of course I am gonna put up a fight!! lol

And side note, Danggit DukeUsul, again for someone who claims to not have a clue..... you got some good "guesses" going on! :ymapplause:
Congrats to you and the rest who made headway from Phoenix!

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity, fuck, fuck!!!!!!!

I was out last night and completely forgot to make my picks for this week by 5am. Fuck. Not only am I stuck with the driver's I used last week, I might also be burning a start for some of them that I didn't plan to use yet. For the moment I've swapped in all of my bench drivers from last week, none of whom have started a race yet but this oversight might really bite me on the ass. Coming off my poor showing last week, this is the last thing I need.

The Champ is dead eh? That sounds like a challenge to me. Fair enough, after this week I'll start getting serious about this season ;)
