There's a frozen custard chain in the Raleigh area modeled after Ted Drewe's, called Goodberry's. They are related somehow by family or friends. We can make it a Ted Drewe's/Goodberry's frozen custard thread...

For dinner tonight I had a New York Strip that weighed more than a pound. I had it with mashed potatoes and green beans. I also had four glasses of wine.

Holy shit. I can't feel my legs.

Homemade chicken salad with celery, grapes, walnuts, mayo and sweet pickle relish, on a pita. And there was nothing foul about that. 8-| A bit of leftover broccoli salad, too.

Mrs. Devildeac, ILJ, and I had grilled chicken in a light hickory/brown-sugar barbecue sauce, grilled squash/zucchini, grilled corn on the cob, and tater tots.

Was unable to fulfill ILJ's request that we get Breyer's Crackel ice cream for Mrs. Devildeac. We have 4-5 Breyers' flavors down in our basement freezer; they somehow mysteriously appeared there while I was gone in Madagascar.

Tomorrow we're celebrating my dad's birthday. I'm preparing:
Steak aux Champignons
Roasted Fingerlings
and I'm still not sure for the greens. Any ideas? Dad hates spinach, which is a bummer because I can imagine wilted spinach in duck fat would be perfect.

For the last night of the anniversary weekend: Terrapin restaurant in VB. Buttermilk fried chicken, sweet potato medallions, Cole slaw, mozzarella and tomato salad, and blueberry sorbet. A bottle of Mumm Napa Pinot noir. Like EJ, I can't feel my legs either.

If anyone ever gets to Virginia Beach, we highly recommend Terrapin. We went there the night we got married and have gone back every year since.

Mmmm I do love me some green beans or sugar snap peas, especially with mint. Good idea. I'll think on it!

Got a rack of baby backs sitting in a rub, ready for smoking for tonight. Not sure what I'll have with them, and I really don't care. :D

Usually hickory. Tonight I'm experimenting with method. I most often smoke in my Brinkmann's charcoal smoker. But it might be overkill for just a single rack. So I'm going to experiment with setting up my new gas grill for indirect heat and smoking. We'll see how it works.
