It's a Pardon Party. The guest list is going to be pretty long, I'm thinking.

Trump is redefining the expression "I beg your pardon" - he is giving them out like candy to the highest bidders. Plus I think he is just a nasty, spiteful person, particularly now, so if he can piss people off by pardoning someone, he will do it. Hopefully he doesn't start pardoning some really dangerous people.

Manafort and Daddy Kushner have already done their time in jail, so I'm not totally clear what the pardon really does for them going forward.

I'm thinking all these people getting pardons are going to have to watch their step the rest of their lives, and just like grifters gonna grift, criminals gonna crime. They can't help themselves, it's their nature. And a few law enforcement officials are going to want to see these people pay their debt.

Few people knew who Manafort/Stone/etc. were 5 years ago, so they could just do their thing. As Peter Sellers once said about a priceless Steinway, "Not Anymore".

Not just that. They can't do federal going forward. I want Congress to call them all in and ask what happened. They can't plead the 5th because they have immunity. But if they perjure themselves, send 'em to the slammer!

Exactly. And that is also why he is giving his cronies late appointments to federal boards to pad their resumes. “Hey Hope Hicks, I know they want you to testify against me, but remember when I named you to the Kennedy Center Board of Directors?”

FWIW they can still plead the Fifth if there is potential state law liability. Trump’s accountant, if pardoned, can still be charged with conspiracy to commit state tax fraud for example so he could plead the Fifth.

That’s funny.

On another note I was listening to michael cohens pod cast today. He thinks Trump will set up a his own so called US government after January 20th called “Magastan”. Apparently he will be still getting US government briefings so he will be giving that info out to whoever he thinks he can benefit from when they visit him in the White House of the south Mar-a-Lago.
That is another scary thought....

At what point can he be cut off from getting these briefings? Is that a "professional courtesy" type thing or is there some kind of law requiring the new president to do so? Since Trump clearly showed no respect for any of the normal professional courtesies of the presidency, I think Biden could easily pull the plug on this one for Trump.

Pretty sure they can either deny the reports or dumb them down. It’s not like he is reading them now.

That was my initial thought. Well my secondary thought, after "why does a guy who can't do squat get briefings?"
