1452: Leonardo da Vinci is born on 15 April.

I remember reading that when we went to London 5 years ago...TillyGalore wrote:Is 1066 when Bill conquered England, or is that what Lavabe is referring to.wilson wrote:Well done, Lavabe. And just for devildeac:
There's evidence of settlements with one long village street,
Farmsteads, hamlets, little towns - the framework was complete
By the time.......... of the Norman Conquest,
The rural framework was complete.
It'll be interesting to see what number associations different people come up with (I'm particularly interested in non-historically significant numbers).
Given that I used an historical milestone, I'll give one back to wilson.wilson wrote:1452: Leonardo da Vinci is born on 15 April.
We, the Galores that is, believe we had ancestors who fought on the Norman side of the Conquest.wilson wrote:You're right. The Battle of Hastings was the decisive victory in the Norman Conquest.TillyGalore wrote: Is 1066 when Bill conquered England, or is that what Lavabe is referring to.
We were sitting in Page together then. ;) I loved it too. I don't think that was the FIRST time I saw it, though.DukeUsul wrote: I saw Braveheart in Page Auditorium in fall 1995 featuring a before and after discussion with Randall Wallace, Duke grad and writer of the screenplay. Which I always thought was the coolest way to see braveheart. Now I feel yours was better.
I'm just shocked that:devildeac wrote:I'm slowing WAAYY down until this evening so I can make an ale selection on the way home from work, enjoy said beverage AFTER dance lessons tonight and then make the review #2000. Hmm, or should I have a review of a recently enjoyed IPA become #2000? Decisions, decisions...
Or maybe a brand new Dogfish Head creation... ;)
Sorry about overlooking your Blue Moon experience  . It's a good quality mass-produced ale quite representative of that style of beer (wheat ale). I will choose that on draught or outta the bottle if my other choices are the usual suspects (bud, miller, etc) at a restaurant and I'd really like to have a beer with dinner.bjornolf wrote:I'm just shocked that:devildeac wrote:I'm slowing WAAYY down until this evening so I can make an ale selection on the way home from work, enjoy said beverage AFTER dance lessons tonight and then make the review #2000. 1. There is no mention of Blue Moon in the Ymm, Beer thread... and
2. You didn't respond to my post in the passing by town thread that I actually had a Blue Moon with my bro last weekend. Since I NEVER drink beer, I thought you'd be proud of me. ;)
I thought the Blue Moon was pretty good, but then, I never drink beer. I'm a hard liquor guy. So, is Blue Moon any good, oh king?

I have heard of it before and thought it was "just" a high gravity beer with an ABV of about 25%, which puts it in the "fortified wine" category, or, I guess it could be considered a liqueur.bjornolf wrote:It was on draught at the Longhorn Steakhouse we went to. My brother told me about a liquer made by Samuel Adams, but I hadn't heard of it before. Are you familiar? It's called Sam Adams Utopia, http://www.samueladams.com/news.aspx?release=33. He's been wanting to try it, but it's illegal in Florida where he lives cause of the alcohol content.
Then you need to PW with Bones and me.colchar wrote:wilson wrote: Well done, Lavabe. I was hoping someone would throw down for their Battle of Hastings post, since I was too late for my own.
I had planned to do it for mine.
